With all of their national contacts, sources everywhere, why didn't Dan or Laurence ever report that Fields may not have the same value that people in Chicago think?

I've heard some local reporters, like Lieser, suggest that they never thought Fields was highly thought of outside of Chicago, and we know they aren't interested in what Wiederer (and Biggs to some extent) say on Fields. I do recall them telling Wiederer that they may not be in the locker room anymore, but they are in the locker room....

Just surprising, for two guys, as piped in as anyone in reporting, to not know this would be the outcome.

It's almost as if hot social takes, or being able to text Rashied Davis for an opinion doesn't give you "informed opinions".

I'm guessing they aren't just saying that they over-estimated Justin Fields value and were.........wrong?

There isn’t one. It’s another thought that if a caller came up with it, he would’ve been roundly mocked by those morons . Something about grown ass men making business decisions and doing what’s best for their family would’ve been the narrative. The guys in this profession dont take less money than they can get elsewhere with their careers being so short because the GM on an opposing team did something nice for a player once ( allegedly)

On the contrary to the mid day show's point, Minnesota treated a modest producer like Cousins like a king and made him incredibly wealthy but he jumped ship to a higher bidder without any thought about Minny

Does Minny have that kind of money left on its cap?

Atlanta might get hit with a pretty significant tampering penalty because they jumped the gun on Cousins even though Minnesota wasn’t going to sign him. Cousins even further hosed them by getting Mooney involved.

Weasel Bernstein now with a highly orchestrated script distancing himself from fellow Fields conspiracists praising doubter Brad Biggs while agreeing with the conspiracist's core beliefs at the same time.

Post subject:  Re: This. Show. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

I went back to listen to them today cuz I knew it was gonna be special.

Larry is insane. Bernstein, like you guys have said, has come around to realizing that the experts and THE ENTIRE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE are probably right about Fields. Although he did kind of hedge like you guys have said. Just cuz he feels he has to hedge a little to prover his Wokeness or something. I don't know.

1. Larry's argument is that THE ENTIRE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE could be wrong about Fields because they've been wrong on other shit. That's true. But ya know what? I would kind of go with the NFL thoughts over Larry. Because all the teams that were thinking about signing Fields probably looked at every fucking snap he took last year. Their pro scouting department absolutely did that. Nobody thought it was worth trading for him. The Steelers finally took a "What the fuck" attitude after they traded their guy cuz he was a bitch.

2. The NFL is mostly wrong on college players, by the way, Larry. They are not normally wrong about NFL QBs that have played in the NFL for 3 years. Yes, Fields deserves to be one of 32 starters in the NFL. And he will be. If not this year, then next year. But the NFL has determined that he can't win 4 post season games to be a Super Bowl champion. He might be anywhere from 12th to 18th best QB at best. But they don't think he will ever be a special passer or elite. The 12th best QB doesn't win Super Bowls in todays NFL. And that's what it's all about. Fields could be like Geno Smith or Baker Mayfield. Maybe. But neither of those two are ever gonna win a Super Bowl.

3. The race thing in Larry's mind is criminality stupid. It just doesn't matter to Larry that the Bears have a black GM. He's the one that gave up on his black QB. To go along with the thoughts of THE ENTIRE NFL. I want to say there are 3 or 4 other black GMs in the NFL. They didn't want him either. It's people like Larry and Goff that help slow the advancement of race relations in this country because they cry wolf when there is no fucking wolf.

When Wiederer was on yesterday, Dan Bernstein asks about "in-town stupid" regarding Fields. I wonder what Wiederer truly thought to a question like that considering the hosts asking the question. Bernstein's really bad opinions (and continued bad ones) shouldn't get a pass here, but he has attempted to put a wall behind him and Laurence who just continues to remind everyone just how bad his thoughts are.

How often are front offices wrong on QB's after 3 years, ~38 NFL starts or is Holmes conflating drafting rookie QB's with veteran one's?

Who is he referring to? I'm sure there are an occasional example, but their arguments were RB's having more value this off-season and Lamar Jackson's lack of free agent market this past off-season.

Bernstein then says Fields performance kept him down (Laurence clearly doesn't agree) and tries to play both sides by saying a bad player can become good.

They then went on to comment on NFL teams being wrong about drafting QB's as being further justification for why Fields could be good.

The Wiederer interview was a strange one. 3 guys who classically clashed now in agreement to be on-air buddies. DW now praising Fields run game as his main Fields theme over weak passing game. Bernstein doing a Fields conspiracy 180 like his Fields race card agenda never took place. Larry trying to keep his head above water still playing the race card. The show is a true mess.

Nobody must be listening except for me if they can (Bernstein) can just pretend he hasn't been in this Fields camp while Holmes at least goes all the way with his justifications of bad opinions.

At least they will both always have racism to fall back on when things get tough

Saw a reel on Instagram from the Score and in it Leery takes an admonishing tone to Bears fans saying that he hopes those same people who analyzed Justin Fields "use the same barometer" with Caleb Williams. Stuff like "watch game tape" and "freeze some stills" and point out "this guy was open". Like...what's he so pissy about? That Justin Fields was analyzed using game tape of him missing wide open receivers?

It still sounds like he's trying to backdoor his way into a racism gotcha aimed at Bears fans for...watching film...of another black QB?

It is truly fun to listen to these two try to cope with the entire Fields situation- NFL front offices make mistakes all the time, Getsy was the problem, Fields did not have the team around him that Caleb had, Mooney in high demand, Fields fourth quarter stats, etc etc.

They simply cannot see or explain how it all went down this way. We should just point them to Vegan’s lucid thoughts around here.

That’s exactly what he’s doing.

Implicit in all this is a desire to see Williams fail so Leery can do an “I told you so” bit, only he doesn’t get that Fields has been a bad NFL QB. Such is the depth of his emotional attachment to a professional athlete, he’d rather lose with Fields than win without him.

The Market has spoken. Getsy got plenty of interest and was hired quickly; Fields was basically given away.

If he really is building to saying into a microphone that "You are evaluating these two black QBs differently and that makes you a racist" he really needs to evaluate what all this "sports receive a significant imprint from the politics of the day" shit has done to his brain. Same if the claim eventually morphs into "Bears fans would have been happy with Bagent being named the full time starter, so it doesn't matter if they replacement they clamored for is also black, wanting a black QB to lose his job is racist".

It's fine to change one's mind after the evidence shows that the entire league had its say on Fields. It's what normal people do. But he's not really doing that. It's like mattress girl. Sure, it's fake, but if circumstances were different, it would be real.
