Remember when North had a national tryout...or when Dan had one in the past for that matter

Does anyone here agree that football talk translates to terrible radio and has made B & B unbearable at times in the last few weeks?

Has nothing to do with football & everything to do with B&B. The afternoon show has become unlistenable & I'll be surprised if it lasts to 2014.

I'm sure CBS asked the PDs of all of their sports radio affiliates to give them their best guys to be subs. Zim gave them Bernstein. Good. America can see what we have to deal with.

According to Wikipedia, CBS Sports Radio has regular weekend people.

Never heard of any them. Weird that Bernstein would be a sub for the launch week. How do you have a sub on opening week?

Two words...Contractual obligations, especially in the cases of BOTH Amy Lawrence & John Kincade. I think they still have contracts with ESPN Radio, and they can't leave right away. Just an educated guess on my part.

X-and-o football talk is painful. Basketball, too.

The scenario I outlined at one time was Bernstein on a CBS Sports Radio affiliate (say, 104.3) running against 670 and cannibalizing the market.

Guys, I think one of two things happen. Just like CBS Radio did over a year and a half ago when they pulled the plug on the disasterous Fresh FM format and started simulcasting WBBM Newsradio's very successful all news format on BOTH 105.9 FM & 780 AM, CBS bosses in New York might pull the plug on the ratings-challenged K-Hits and start simulcasting The SCORE's local sports talk format on BOTH 104.3 FM & 670 AM.

The other scenario is what Boston's WEEI started doing back in October. Although they're NOT a CBS Radio outlet, WEEI started putting all ESPN Radio national sports talk on 850 AM in Boston & shifting its local sports talk programming, including Red Sox baseball & Celtics basketball broadcasts to 93.7 FM. Might CBS do the same with all CBS Sports Radio programming where WSCR is now at 670 AM and shift all local sports talk, including White Sox baseball and other play-by-play to 104.3 FM where WJMK is now? I think one of those 2 things happens later this year, especially if K-Hits continues to scuffle in the ratings.

How about this for a solution, Zimmerman? Why don't you scout the country for a Bernstein partner? This grooming of producers has been a failure. They're all dumb asses and they pretty much embarrass the station (See Goff's and Drinky's behavior over the years).

Pull somebody from a mid sized market that has some intelligence, wit and would actually know how to challenge Bernstein. I don't know if this person exists. But you should at least try.

I want Zimmerman to hold a press conference to announce the search. I will determine if that press conference is won or lost.

I don't know if they are dumbasses, Beardown, but The SCORE should spend CBS Radio's $$$$ to land the absolute best talent available instead of trying to groom new talent from within. Not everyone can be Joe Ostrowski, Matt Abbatacola, Ben Finfer or Nick Shepkowski, current SCORE producers who also double as occasional hosts on the radio station.

Are you referring to Wayne Randazzo and/or the Ryan Seacrest-sounding, Daily Herald-writing Barry Rozner?

No, you're letting it get to your head because you misunderstood a long-standing and long-stupid board joke that board member "Seacrest" is Barry Rozner in disguise. There is no universe in which mega-famous international television personality Ryan Seacrest sounds like marginally famous Arlington Heights sportswriter Barry Rozner. But if they did...

"Okay, next we're going to be hearing from...I don't know. Someone my daughters like. Or probably like. I can't tell anymore. Let's ask the judges what they think. My wife thinks I'm an idiot. Your thoughts, Billy Gardner?"

Sarah Spain sounds like she has stuff in her mouth when she does updates on the "Waddle & Silvy Show", while Amy Lawrence is overcaffeinated when I've heard her after Bulls' games on ESPN Radio 1000 AM at night.
