I hated Cutler. That's probably the only Bears starter I couldn't get on board with.

If I've got one game to win, I'm starting Cutler over Fields. Both probably break my heart with a game losing pick 6, but at least with Jay I know I would have the chance at putting up points and moving the ball. Until proven otherwise, yesterday with Fields was an anomaly,

Fields would need maybe 15-20 games with similar production to move the meters in a statistically meaningful way.

I would probably start you over Fields. Isn't he like 4 and 30?

When I saw you a couple of weeks ago, a biological woman wasn't driving, you weren't wearing a blouse, and you appeared to be able to see what was going on on the road. That level of decison making and competence is far better than what Fields has given me in 3 years.

One game to win:

Mccowan
Cutler
Grossman
Chicago Orton (Denver Orton would be higher)
(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky

If I had Grossman's offensive line and Cutler's skill position guys I'd go with Cutler.

Any QB would have a hard time operating behind the current offensive line.

My buddy at work (Steelers fan) is saying much of Steeler nation wants Tomlin gone. If he's fired, the Bears have to scoop him up immediately. Don't let Poles do the interview/negotiation it has to be Warren.

No Bears player had more talent around him than Cutler.

I would take Grossman in a heartbeat. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky would be 2nd. Cutler would be last. There's never been a Bears player in my lifetime who can remove all hope in 3 minutes like Cutler could.

Everyone thought Cutler was great because of his last season in Denver. It's funny to look back on it and realize even that season in Denver wasn't nearly as good as what (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky did his second year.

I think the thinking was "this is a 24/25 year old QB on an upward trajectory, let's grab him and enjoy when the reaches his potential" as much as it was about past performance. The Cutler deal made sense at the time - who wouldn't want to grab a QB on his rookie deal who displayed some potential.. those guys rarely become available. Of course afterwards you realize cutlers career didn't reach what everyone thought it could, but even becoming an above average QB for Chicago places him statistically in the top 3 or 5 QBs all time for this team which is quite sad.

I think Bobby Douglass was almost exactly the same as Fields. He sucked too.

I've said that this team reminds me a lot of the 1974 Bears.

The saving grace in 1974 was that Jim Finks joined the organization after the season started and then wiped out everyone of importance in the coaching and management ranks, then went and drafted Walter Payton #3.

If Kevin Warren knows how to either be the next Finks or knows how to hire him, then there is a path out of this mess.

Problem is that the situation is so dire for the Bears, having pretty much been garbage for the last 30 years, that I don't think anyone outside the media class cares about any of that nonsense. (Maybe Brogue.) Bears fans are desirous that any quarterback do well at this point, one would have to think. But at this point, I think it's obvious that Fields can fail and be failed in equal measure, and that once again, this guy is not the guy, and everyone should be able to say it by now.

Right they should be able to say it but they dont / didnt and you certainly dont/ didnt have a white studio analyst saying Fields was garbage on a national post game show despite a 5-29 career record as a starter or even after he managed 99 fucking yards passing in a game that was over by halftime because they know the backlash they would face for it. Rodney Harrison however, is perfectly comfortable saying that about Zach Wilson even after a game in which he outperformed the best quarterback in the league because he knows nothing will happen to him. Kudos to Chris Jones for not rising to the bait and taking the high road.

Saleh or someone on that team has to challenge Harrison to a fight or something after that. That's the only way to fix it and defend your team from that kind of below the belt commentary.

Guy made a living as one of the dirtiest players in the game. Trash talking a very bad QB seems like progress.

They wouldn't have to "get away with it." In the NBA it's assumed any white guy sucks. Even Larry Bird.

I just meant the unprofessionalism of the line of questioning in general absent any race factor.

Are you saying there isn't a thought- more than occasionally expressed out loud- that any player with white skin is "soft"?

Martin was a great show. It launched the new Fox Network at the time. I don' t know why I don't see it in syndication. probably racism
