Sorry you missed the early years of the station. If your going to compare the approach the station took before it was purchased to the modern corporate version then as they say down south, "bless your heart".


I did not miss the early years of the station. But talking about the "approach" of the station versus saying that shows just rehash the team-approved takes are two different things. If I felt a show was acting like team-employed reporters and only giving team-approved takes, I wouldn't listen to them. As a Hawks fan, I don't consume any of their website articles and pay little attention to what Eddie Olczyk and Charlie Roumeliotis report.


Interesting, but does not bear (pun somewhat intended) up to scrutiny. Let's look at Bears coverage for example, Hub is a guest on all the shows, arguably the stations top Bears expert. Hub will shut down any caller or host that even begins to question/place blame on Bears ownership, his takes become the takes of everyone else at the station. Grote is a Bears team employee and is the stations Bears reporter, filling the team friendly reporter roll formerly filled by Holmes and Zaidman. The primary source rolls are all filled by guys that are directly connected with the team therefore they are reporting exactly what the team wants them to report, so they are in fact giving you team approved takes.


I'm with you on Zaidman and Grote, but I disagree on Hub. I find him to be levelheaded and calm more than a tool of Bears management/ownership. In terms of Hub shutting down callers, I just don't think he's interested in having a conversation over and over again about changing the Bears ownership, when the odds of that event actually happening are extremely low. GM's, coaches, and players come and go, but for better or worse ownership tends to endure, and there's not much anyone can really do about it.

Remember a specific incidence on a post game show last year where a caller brought up the fact that Bears ownership needed to take heat for the teams poor performance. Hub called the question "silly", and said the GM and Coach were responsible, Olin simply said, "Who hired the GM and coach", Hub went dead silent and quickly moved on to the next call. You cannot really fault Hub, his and his families incomes depend on access to the Bears and NFL, but always realize his takes are going to be impacted by the need to avoid offending the team.

I just want to remind everybody about our Deerfield/Duke boy, Dan Bernstein.

He was the guy that would refer to black basketball players as "Wang-Whippers". That was code for the N word.

He referred to a black women college player as a "Wildebeest". And he and his partner, Terry, insinuated that she had a penis. Why? Because she was a big strong black girl.

So I don't want to hear Bernstein try to solve the problem when he's been part of the problem.

Oh wait... he's evolved. Right? :roll: And he constantly reminds people that he lives in Chicago because he wanted his kids to see brown people. So that means he's not racist, because he always says this. Right?

Wasn't his other go to always the "imaginary klansmen" reference? I think he used that quite a bit, especially involving Dusty.

Thanks for bringing that up.

Like I said, I don't want to hear from him when shit like this goes down. He takes these events to be opportunistic and acts like he cares because he has a microphone and an audience. But he doesn't care. Never has.

Bernstein knows what he has to say in moments like this. So it's theatre. Then he gets the response on twitter saying "You were great today, Bernstein". When it's all hollow and fake coming from him.

I see through him. I think I'm good at reading people. I know Bernstein's game. He sure as hell isn't fooling me.

The left wing message is pretty much incoherent at this time because any thinking person realizes that reasonable people stop listening once looting starts. One can use whatever pretzel logic you want to try to justify looting, but whatever social justice message you are trying to send is lost once images of large groups of people looting hit the air.
