If Trump grew up with leash and Dr. Ken, he would have already been president and would probably be on his 7th term.

I didn't grow up hating Jews.

I never even met a Jew until I was 18.

Wow. You met a your first Jew and Bernstein met his first black guy at the same time. What did you guys say to each other?

He was my college roommate and a bodybuilder. He said he didn't take being a Jew that seriously and that I could make any "Jew jokes" I wanted to and he wouldn't care.

1. That's not really my style.

2. I didn't know any "Jew jokes". I'd never met a Jew!

One day I accidentally made a pretty tame joke not realizing it had a Jewish connotation. Maybe I referenced Hollywood Blvd. He almost kicked my ass. I was glad I never had taken him up on the free Jew joke thing.

I bet you got fooled a few times by that weight lifter being the country boy in the big city.

Not to pick nits but if you had any religious exposure at all as a kid don't you have to know about the Jews? Moses or Noah's Ark stories at a minimum?

I was aware of the Jewish faith the same way I'd heard of Mormons and Buddhists. I'd just never met a Jewish person.

I had to learn all the stereotypes as an adult. But, man, bagels were a revelation.

I wish. I'd never lift with that guy. He was a freak.

He did give me a brand new pair of Nike shoes he didn't like for going to the lobby and buying him a can of Sprite. He also had a full-size poster of his girlfriend in stretch pants laying on a bearskin rug. She was hot. Like late-'80s hair band music video hot.

That is a good point: Have you ever heard Dan begin a segment with "I was hanging out with my longtime friends this weekend and...."?

I get the feeling he has his wife as his best friend, some people who don't hate him in the industry and a couple of college people who he never sees as his circle of friends.

I've said it more times than the people here care to hear, but since you asked -

Rip's - Ladd, IL - Best fried chicken in the world

Ziggie's (diner) - Mendota, IL - Double-breaded cheeseburger, fries, side of gravy (for fries), RC Cola - poke the burger a few times before biting in so as to avoid a cheese lava explosion in your face

We went to Rip's this year after reffing a football game in Spring Valley. Chicken was excellent and the craft beer selection at the bar was surprising as well. Lagunita's, Boulevard, Half Acre, and Revolution.

From what I can tell I might be a bit younger than you.

Maybe when my dad was there buying a pair of Work N Sports you might have directed me to the toy section.

I was at the old one.

It looks like the Trump Tower of Farm & Fleet these days.

Thinking about this "daddy are they coming to take us away" bullshit: Trump's beloved daughter converted to Judaism, his trusted son in law is Jewish and obviously any grandchildren they have will be Jewish.

No Dan, they won't be coming to take you away, they will be giving you a seat at the table, again.

I did not know this until last week when someone else mentioned it. I was surprised how silly Dan's made up thing was last week in hindsight. Also, I did not see it but read about the 60 minutes stuff. I had no idea he held a rainbow flag and had a gay main speaker at the convention as well as unequivocally saying last night that gay marriage was a settled issue. I guess he also will not be coming for the LBGT community either. It is so clear how the left painted this guy and just convinced so many he hated Jews and Gays.

I've never got the feeling that Trump was anti-gay. However, picking Pence as his running mate certainly raised eyebrows. If Pence is given a strong leadership role I could see why there would be some concern.

I have never been afraid of a VP in my lifetime. The "fear" seems to not be in line with reality. Of course, I could be completely wrong but the drastic reactions last week might need to calm a bit and see how this goes.
