Thoughtful remarks today. I enjoyed watching his remarks even if it made me misty eyed at times.

All you lames should just do yourselves a favor & completely skip 670 and just listen to Jim Rome online from 11-2, and then Tony Kornheiser's podcast after 2.
I live a SPEEEEEEGS free lifestyle and it's goin great. :cheese:

I was with someone today listening to Kap in the morning. Wasn't bad. Would have preferred S&P but it was better than anything else on the Score.

Obviously I am not the only one who finds your comments creepy Rick. Bernstein will not have you over to play with his kid and Jason will not call you an "alright white boy."

Besides, they orient the conversation, too, when they say, "We'll go to Caller Bob from Shitsville."

I think this is the critical part. From bernstein's end, that sets up the conversation. And Caller Bob can go right into spouting his stupid thought about the Cubs. But from Bob's standpoint, he's waiting on hold and he has his radio down and he doesn't really get the set up. It shouldn't be that difficult for a guy who has worked in radio his entire adult life to understand.

Right. The caller might hear "we'll go to Bob in Shitsville" and then silence. If he were to say "Bob you're on the air" or "what's on your mind Bob" the caller would just start talking.

"you don't have to lose your sense of logic to be a die hard fan"

The fuck you talking about? The implication of die hard fan status is that you continue believing in your team's chance of success beyond the point it was still logical to do so.

You don't find it offensive that the only caller of the day who expressed some semblance of hope was heavily ridiculed by hosts on the flagship station?

This is a completely cherry-picked synopsis of that call yesterday. When the caller was pressed on whether he thought the Cubs would win the series, the caller's answer was 'no' (the same thought as Dan & Jason).

Your synopsis hardly reflects the context. They were browbeating him for minutes telling him that anyone who held out hope was stupid and illogical. When they finally arrived at that question to him the answer had been reduced to a choice of either being stupid or not believing.

How many different times during that call did the attempt to alter the caller's belief in what a die hard fan was?

My synopsis is very reflective of the substance of the call.

Bernstein was right. (and so was the caller)

this is 100% correct. The split when they go to you, it just seems right for a greeting while you re-collect your thoughts after sitting on hold.
