If there are no films of it, how do you know he patroled the OF like a gazelle?

I know you are old, but not that old

Remember when Marshall basically slap-punched Eric Hipple (?) and was fined, even though there wasn't a penalty flag?

Christ, I wish the Bears had kept him.

Was Hipple the guy he sent about 10 yards off his ass? I seem to remember Theismann getting blasted, but maybe it was Hipple.

Marshall knocked out Hipple and Joe Ferguson

"They runnin outta quarterbacks" was the most common line heard that year. I think they killed Danny White and the Dallas qb room that year as well

Yep Danny White came back into that game and got knocked out again. Don't forget the massacre known as Bears/Raiders 1984.

 I know he was a good outfielder playing in the huge outfields of his day. He even played center. He wasn't always the fat old guy you see in the World Series against the Cubs. And he didn't tiptoe like that anyway. That's the film. Look at him when he was a kid. The guy was a stud:

That D in '84 was as potent as it was in '85. Beat the defending champs at home.

I honestly thought this picture sealed the deal about his mixed race heritage.

Steve Kerr could still play today, but he would not be unique given the number of players shooting threes. It does almost ruin the game that teams put up 60 three pointers in a game. I think a lot of mediocre players want to be Stephen Curry.

Might be a bit hard to discern ethnicity of a guy in a picture older than nearly anybody anyone knows here. Might be dirt, bad film, odd lighting, the Jews, anything.

Sure he could, just for Grambling State, UCLA or Rutgers.

Just wanted to point out that some institutions WERE enlightened back then. Sadly, only UCLA & Rutgers were the only ones that readily came to mind.

And today they were yukking it up laughing that Jerry West could not even make a roster today in the NBA. What's next, Michael Jordan can't hold a candle to Ben Simmons? I get that today's athletes in general are bigger and faster but if the stars of the past had access to today's year around training methods they would be bigger and faster also. Yes, they may have not dominated today the way they did back then but come on!
