Guy used to pull daily multi-page threads.

Not much radio talk here at all any longer.

He stopped getting daily show threads a few years ago. Since he went into survival mode he doesn't say much that will piss people off or entertain.

I have noticed that as well.... compare to five years ago or even ten, you can see the decline in intrest in the radio portion of the board. MANY have said (and I am one) that they don't listen to as much as they used to. I imagine that would be a trend that would also be going on outside of the board.

For starters, radio in general is trending downward, which I think is apparent to everyone. These companies are going as quickly as newsprint these days.

For sports radio in this market specifically, I stopped listening because of how many commercials there are. I don't know what the hourly dial looked like in 2000, but I can't imagine I suffered through this many commercials in an hour. Perhaps I did, not knowing any better because I hadn't heard podcasts, but I feel they have to be at least 26 minutes of each hour.

I'm also perhaps the wrong person for what they are looking for, but some of the best parts of sports radio to me are when they are talking tangentially to sports. It seems like that has been discouraged -- maybe because they want the 34 minutes of actual radio to be focused on sports so someone flipping the dial expecting sports talk will actually hear sports talk.

The commercials are a killer. For instance, B & B barely said anything interesting until 2:35. Transition for 15 minutes, commercials, then the show intro and more commercials, a sports update, commericals . . . it always gave me a headache.

Yep.

Once it became a chore to listen, I tuned out and haven't gone back.

I came to this site originally because I listened all the time and it was fun to see the feedback and bounce stuff around.

Later, I listened so I could contribute here and it was fun to bounce stuff around.

Now, I don't listen much and nobody here talks about it. My incentive is low.

This. This is it. I used to listen to B&B all the time. Thought they were too jerkish at times, but had times when I was in tears from laughing. Maybe it was Penn State? Maybe it was Dan's grandstanding so long on issues.

I was a huge Stern fan back in the day, Jackie in the 90s and early Artie was radio gold. I have not listened to Stern in over a decade. He wanted to be "in the club with celebrities" and changed.

On a much much smaller scale I think Dan wanted to be known as more than a sportscaster. His dumb serious voice and spending segments and segments. All he is now is your typical 50s retweeter of slate. Oh and now he does creepy cameo videos

Tougher for people to hear him in middays. That's part of the reason. I don't catch much of him anymore.

But, like has been said, he's not the same when I do catch him. He's got a dorky partner now. The recent firings have him scared. He knows the new boss might be after his ass next. So he's become very polite and just talks about baseball stats now. McDoink and him both love the baseball stats. They're like teenage boys seeing boobs when it comes to baseball stats.

It might because he most likely has my credit card information now.

Just to go full-circle on this thread, I actually know what station Showbiz Shelly is currently on and have heard her recently.

The reason for this is DiCaro. When you compare Bernstein to her it's pretty clear. What's the dumbest thing Bernstein has said lately? "My son asked if we were gonna be sent to the camps"? lol Julie says something more retarded than that daily. If you're looking for someone who can just love to hate it's hard to find a better candidate than Julie.

So yea, Bernstein is just a dime-a-dozen modern shitlib. Why even care anymore.

The move to middays completely neutered him. He’s just boring, now. That comma is for you, Dan.

The show is average. This is what many of you wanted.

Stick to sports. Don't be mean to callers. Be inoffensive and vanilla.
