This is the preferable Bernstein. The old Bernstein would have taken the two to four minutes that were spent talking about U.S. Gymnastics today and expanded it into a segment, a half an hour, or the full hour. I don't mind some political/social issues talk under the right circumstances (bringing up the gymnastics story and devoting a few minutes to it was appropriate), it's the old style Bernstein rabbit hole plunge that gets tiring.

Yes, he's neutered but that's not the problem with the midday show. Personally, I never liked his combative nature with callers and it made for awful moments. Like someone else said, take the show in smaller doses.

Yesterday, Parkins and someone were talking to Bernstein and McPoppedcollar about how some professional athletes are so naturally gifted that they can just go out and be great at any sport.

One of them (I think Parkins) gave the example of an athlete going out and shooting a 70 (or some low number) in golf without ever having played. Suddenly, Bernstein starts laughing a bit and says "I know a guy who isn't a professional athlete who can do that, and he sits right across from me." And again, McFiveoclockshadow got all "aw, golly gee whiz"ish with Dan.

This is getting sickening.
