I'll record myself breathing heavily and talking a big strained shit, loop it for 2 hours and you can listen to that. Better than Holmes and much, much better than BernSTINE.

interesting. The before and after shows both lose an hour - I'll bet Mac is happier than a pig in shit!

This is the worst daily crew in the history of the score. Mac is the only host who has any value.

I don't hate Holmes as much as some of you but, did anyone ask for this? Ratings must not be good for McKnight and Bernstein

I'm not sure why people think this when Mac lost an hour too.

You figure that he's gotta earn that $350k/yr somehow.... Although there's still gonna be a fair amount of 1:20pm (12:45pm pregame?) home games and getaway day matinees on the road. #NoFullWeeksUntilOctober

Beardown's gotta be on high alert for all the drama surrounding the opening for nights. I wonder if there's any podcaster / update person hybrids with the highest rated show on the score on Saturday nights who could be eligible to slide into the nighttime gig? Lord knows it wouldn't be based on merit/performance/quality (read: WORKS JUST $$$FINE$$$) so *crosses fingers*

If they were intelligent and could get Mac to agree, they'd make that show 2-6:30 so there is no extra host on nights with Cubs/Bulls/NFL 7:10pm starts, and make the nightime show 6:30-10.

It was always weird that slot was 5 anyway. As long as I remember that was the only 5 hour slot I ever seen.

2 - 6 is perfect.

I think this will be a nice revision to the year old shake-up.

Less McKnight on the radio is a great start - 0 hours for him and Haugh would be perfect. I get the feeling that sandwiching Larry between two piles of crap is not going to work out well. I dont mind him but I cant really see him bringing back the listeners that Haugh and McKnight drive away. I imagine the evening ratings will remain high proving that it isnt really Larry that brings in the listeners. What will management do when they end up with 3 awful shows?

Well, yeah, it's been the joke here for a while that Laurence and Julie were passengers on Cubs play-by-play.

I don't think Laurence will do an awful show as long as he is quarantined from his two kryptonites: Dan Bernstein and women who do sports on TV. If he ends up doing a Bears-intensive show with all his buddies from the late 2000s teams, then the Score will do what I've thought they should do for a long time (Bears version of the "Leafs Lunch" concept in Tronna) and it should work out well for everyone.

Good idea.
Also make it a baseball-focused show during the season. Don't need bits from him during those two hours.

That'll be tough because day baseball will preempt most of the timeslot -- Laurence will just be doing lots of 40-minute shows at noon now instead of 6. But when there's not play-by-play, sure.

But I think there's an opportunity to put all the deepest X-and-O football nerdery on Laurence's show, and there does seem to be an audience for that. It could free up Bernstein and McDoink to be the baseball/basketball guys they are at heart.

I put this on another thread. Propose that Bud Light tavern tour returns with a Friday buffet lunch series since Mac/Parko don't do many remotes.

- Anthony Herron or one of the NBC ex-Bears from July through end of football season
- Pro/college basketball guests from the Super Bowl through the NCAA tournament
- Rotating baseball/Cubs-related guests from Baseball Opening Day forward, on weeks where the Cubs are on the road on Friday (so roughly half the time)

The only time of overlap between Bears/Cubs would be from the start of training camp through the end of the Cubs' season.
That would be a start.

During football season, have a Bears Monday guest in studio for the first hour during football season, and have Grote in on Tuesday when the players are off.

There aren't many weekday day games at Wrigley anymore outside of getaway days, or Fridays. The Cubs day-baseball legend is dead and has been dead for awhile now.

They need to groom replacements for the older guy.

And for the younger guy that looks even older.

No more transition between Bernstein and Mac.

But more transition between Lawrence and Parkins.

Net win.

I believe the midday and afternoon shows will start doing more remotes this year.

Loho and Joe o spent the seven o clock hour tonight partying each other on the back.... I think so much so they likely will need to go on workers comp for a back injury.

I heard from a guy who would know that this move was precipitated by the Cubs who didn't want Mac/Parkins or bernstein asking real questions on the lead-ins to day games. Sir will treat the Cub gently. Mac is on the last three holes of his career. He ain't gonna play them on his knees.

I believe that guy. Makes sense. Also, the White Sox hate Mac and Parkins. That's why Rick Haugn wouldn't go on live with Mac and Parkins. Instead, he did a taped interview with Larry.

The teams in town would like Larry. Cuz he's a pussy. Acts like a tough guy. Thinks he's a tough guy. But he's a pussy. So our Chicago teams know they'll get soft ball questions from him. And that they won't be challenged.
