Well, he is. I think you'd understand better if you were a pitcher standing on a mound in front of 20,000 people while some guy showed you up. Hell, you get furious when leash humiliates you with a one-liner.

Q: If Tim Anderson flips his bat, and no fans are in the stands to see it, is it still offensive to the pitcher?

It is perfectly acceptable for the batter to be happy just as it is perfectly acceptable for the pitcher to be not be happy.

Neither would be happy when the umpire does histrionics when calling a ball, strike or out.

Ump at my son's high school game did a Macho Man thing after every strike..."OOOOOOOOOOHHH Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

High school umps are a sometimes fun but definitely eclectic lot.

Always check the water bottle.

Had an ump mistakenly toss my son out of a game once. Two plays later he screwed up another call, our coach loudly declared that the ump had Jim Beam in his water bottle, got tossed along with one assistant. Good times.

Springer probably cost his team the World Series last night by bouncing and posing at the plate instead of running. But hey, it's fun and the kids love it!

Well that was dumb obviously. It’s like an NFL guy showboating before he gets into the end zone and gets stripped.

Once you get there I have no problems with it. Especially considering pitchers/NFL defenders aren’t shy about celebrating when they get a big out/stop.

Sure, but these are habits. It's not something he thought about. He's just not trained to run hard out of the box.

Maybe. I think it’s fair to say there are no doubters in baseball. On those, I appreciate the dramatic pause and casual flip of the bat before running. The aesthetics are better than someone just Charlie hustling out of the box on a 470 foot bomb.

Springer was just an idiot for thinking that was one of those.

I think to speed up the game you treat hr's like you do in mens slow pitch softball. just a walk back to the dugout bat in hand.
