Well its the whole underlying narrative here isn’t it ? Old racist white guys who hate minorities and want to repress their natural exuberance on the baseball field and act the right way . ( as if there hasn’t been Latin and black players in baseball for decades who didn’t bat flip , round the bases like a normal person after a home run in April , and didn’t sky point after striking someone out )

It's just a way for Bernstein and the ilk to talk down to people and imply racism.

I don’t think that’s what Mike was getting at.

I think you could compare it to betting horses. If you've ever been in an OTB you've seen these various characters- the screamer, the program whipper, etc. At some point if you're serious about betting, you learn how to check your emotions. We all get excited sometimes, but some of this shit is ridiculous. The Gold Room at Arlington is pretty civilized. If you get too emotional you will get the side-eye from many of the regulars. I'm pretty even-keeled and I've been scolded for finger-snapping.

Is it really about happiness? I'm happy right now. Should I walk over to the kitchen where my wife is and shake my hips and stick my cock in her face? WOO-HOO! YES!

I'd say the vast majority of bat flips are contrived showboating rather than genuine emotion. Kris Bryant's smile when he threw over to first for the last out, that's genuine emotion.

Probably. What I don’t really grasp is the score crew yesterday pushing the grow the game angle. It the bat flip the main thing making kids pick up a glove and ball or begging their single mother to run them out to the Cell ASAP?

I don't know. Young guys seem to love it. They like MMA too.

Sure but is it the knockout or the standing on the ropes after?

To connote without a dad there may not be another influencing factor to go to the game. You are weird.

Frankly one of the most fun times I had was a high school game vs. Clemente about five years ago. There was music, cheering and a bat flip contest that one of their players started after a mammoth blast.

Sometimes you just want to laugh.

No it isn’t. Even though that narrative annoys me BR would know I said I am not anti flipping. JBills don’t play the other guys passive gamer that pisses everyone off. Just ask.

Dude we would love playing in Gately where the opponents bands and sections were the show. And remember when the old classic black college bands came to Soldier Field. Now that is expression. Not some dumb ass dotting the I.

My issue is that you can't have it both ways. If you are OK with pitchers celebrating a big strikeout or Javy celebrating a tag, then you have to be OK with bat flips. Its not a one way street.

This is the heart of the issue. Many people want it both ways, or they see it only thru the lens of their own team. I got into it with a Cardinal fan down here last year about Javy. They were all upset about some celebrating Javy did in a game. Yet when I pointed out their pitcher being all jacked up after a strikeout that was different. They were just genuinely excited while Javy was just a showboating douchebag.

I’m just saying Jose Bautista came from a two parent household.

Where is your evidence outside of Tim Anderson’s felonious father?

I am talking about the little fan kids situation today. Doesn’t make much sense to grow the game for people already playing. Moreover I never said felonious at all and the cell is Comiskey. Are you high?

I don't care if the batter drops his pants and runs the bases with his ass out.

It's not fun for the guy who gave up the homer though. And I'd prefer baseball not turn into professional wrestling.
