Nice write-up, RotS.

Fun moments in the first hour- the play of the John Feinstein my wife if going to divorce me over Field of Dreams. The caller saying it was proof that life is not too short.

The call with Drinky was fun. I don't think his career is going really well as he reports it though.

I think offering to cover his Uber tab did it

Recap of the reunion. Miss a little, miss a lot. heyyy!
As someone who hasn't listened to The Score since Boers left, I greatly enjoyed this. Celebrating the death of Jeffrey Epstein, John Feinstein's divorce, AAY-DEE-PEE, giggly Rongey, penis jokes...

I'll say it again: they missed a big opportunity in pairing Bernstein with Rozner. That's the only pairing that could have come close to matching B&B's chemistry.

Boers is a legend; Rozner is a loser. Did I use the semicolon correctly?

Weren't B & B the first host pairing to virtually agree on everything? Bernstein would take a stand on the sports or news topics of the day and Terry would chime in agreeing with him. Then that format was used with B & G, S & P, and M & P today. Then the company line ordered by management gush praising the Cubs fit like a glove.

It may seemed they agreed on everything, but I think they were probably the first sports radio show to postulate that "hot takes" in general were dumb and deserved ridicule. They were the antithesis of the idiocy of First Take, et al

Rozner was the guy who filled in most for Terry during the year Terry was sick before he retired. I didn't think it was anywhere close to as good as even post-Penn State B&B. Rozner's just not that good. "MAGOWAN!"

I enjoyed the B&B reunion show. As Chicago radio embarked on its death march from Steve & Garry to Eric & Kathy, they were the best thing going. Even after Penn State they could still be fun on Bears Mondays, especially during the 2014 Trestman disaster year.

I don't think they agreed on everything. Terry just often found it easier to say, "Uh eh, that sounds about right" than to go down some crazy rabbit hole with dan.

Speaking of Rozner, did B&B ever use this drop back in the day or am I mixing them up.with the Stern show?

B&B used the Homer Simpsons "GAAAY" drop before Dan went SJW

PC culture forced so many great drops into retirement:
"Gay!" (lenny from the simpsons)
"I am a homosexual" (bill clinton)
"You sound like a gay!" (anchorman)
"This gay" (david schuster)
"I hate gay people" (tim hardaway)
"But! He's gay!"
"Yeah, but he's gay!"
"He was a genius"
*using the Top Gun theme to imply someone is gay* (my favorite)

I would also assume that the "Sanford & Son" theme can't be played when a crazy old black dude from Evanston calls.

We're supposed to pretend these were never funny.

Fantastic shows. Made me remember why I used to listen to their podcasts most evenings while I had some muted sports on TV. My biggest takeaway was how awful and unlistenable Bernstein is with McKnight. A few people mentioned Rozner, who I always enjoyed, but Bernstein was generally the same host with Rozner as he was with Boers. Maybe the change in Bernstein isn’t because of McKnight but rather because of his demotion and DeCastro. Maybe a combination of both.

And I still laugh every time they play the George Offman quotes.

Well it may have just been JLN but he was wrong about everything and is now departed.

I can't even remember Speigel and Goff. I'm probably blocking it out, like seeing somebody get hit by a train.

Yep. Terry definitely had thoughts about Dan's overreliance on metrics but he only rarely had the fight in him. You have to be prepared for a battle of attrition when you disagree with Dan

Maybe they disagreed on Mickey Mouse bs, but always agreed on big stuff,or ganging up on a caller.
B & B should do "Who you crappin" on Terry's next visit. I never missed one. It was pure gold.

You're skipping the Goff year, which was when he started to disengage and be a lot less fun.

It was okay, but better during the HFC days. I think the producers kept the idiots away who didn't have a clue on the essence of the bit. Plus, Bernstein would spend half the segment reading "listener" pontifications that supported his own political viewpoints, despite their own warning to limit the craps to sports.
