It's great.

This should be the new show.

I would listen to this show every day, and build a new ALS....

it's actually...funny.

Murph as Robocop, the whole last 15 minutes or so have been great.

Remember how terrible Rongey had it dealing with all those callers after White Sox games? No wonder him and Lil Danny are getting along , it was basically the equivalent of wandering through the desert for 40 years.

Bernstien could host a show with a "My Pet Rock" and you would be an ALS'er.

Would not last though... Just wait until rongey is required to give actual sports takes. You'll zone out and 10 minutes later when he's finally done rambling you'll wonder what the hell did I just listen to?

This should have been the show instead of Goff years ago. But Rongey has a couple more years of hosting experience. And he won't usually let Bernstein go SJW for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

It was a fun listen. Especially when Terry showed up and just started talking.

Rongey seemed to think of himself as some sort of victim in his role after Sox games. Dave Wills (whatever station he was on) was so much better. Wills actually had things to say about baseball, and he genuinely liked the Sox.

Worse part was Rongey used to get sympathy from idiots like Bernstein for having to slog thru that tough gig of hosting a postgame show and having to deal with people who watched / listened / attended the games who would call in and voice their opinions like he did 3 tours in Nam .

Much like the Afghan Whigs should have had more hit singles, Rongey's "Bad news for the White Sox, because of the loss, or with the loss, the result is a loss, due to the number of runs scored" should have become a well-worn Score drop but just didn't catch on.

White Sox postgame host has been outlawed by the Geneva Convention.

Listened for a minute or two in the car, but it sounded odd because Rongey seemed to be doing the Terry broadcast from home bit because there were some definite timing issues. The ongoing reference to the Brad Biggs column on Mitch being gone seemed odd, almost as if the Bears are feeding that line to the local media to prep them for an upcoming QB move. Whenever Rongey is on they can almost fill an entire show with old drops from Sox postgame callers, in fact, that show would be more entertaining than the usual midday hosts.

Rongey seems like a really odd fill in host. Was he getting a try out for a possible spot?

He's been doing afternoon drive in St. Louis (probably ISDNing in from there, hence the timing issues mentioned above) and as a Metro-East guy he's probably better suited to that than talking Chicago sports. My guess is it was a one-off just for the fun of it.

I like Ronge in a fast paced show paired with someone. When he's solo he's Parkins like going on and on and on without saying anything. Ronge's Sox apologist post games were classic. He'd take slews of calls unlike ZZ mostly dodging calls. The Sox were horrendous at all levels and he'd have to make excuses for their many failures for an hour. That must be the part is the lying he'd have to do after Sox games that was taxing on him confronting angry Sox callers lying through his teeth in response. He definitely developed a hatred for the callers who challenged him game after game.

Rongey was terrible hosting Sox Post-game. His role as white Sox apologist was pretty laughable since it was clear he wasn't any kind of a fan. Another guy who wanted to be the next coming of Dan Bernstein by being smug to callers.

I'm hoping he stopped responding to Zee in that twitter thread....dude clocked him good and fast.

This post pretty well nails it. Ronge = Bernstein smugness without Bernstein talent. I was happy when he left after watching Mannelly, Goff, and Parkins jump ahead of him.

Since we're on the topic of White Sox Pre and Post guys, I actually liked McKnight in that role quite a bit.

I met Ranger. I like Ranger. He took on the attitude of the Sox front office to blame the fans when things went bad with the team.

The Dan Bernstein era is defined by hating callers.

All those fucks dread Bears Mondays. He even got his acolytes, drinky and Goff, to hate them. Meanwhile, it is the easiest show of the week. Open the lines, sit back and let people emote.

Yeah because you might have to take a call from ( to take it from a Cubs perspective ) someone who correctly thinks David Bote sucks which directly flies in the face of really.smart.baseball. guys like Theo, Lil Danny and Joe Sheehan because his EXIT VELOCITY is top 5 .

I agree with CoF: The Rongey-Bernstein pairing made for a terrific show.

Rongey really brought out the best in Bernstein, particularly his sense of humor, which has been largely missing during Bernstein's partnership with McKnight.

While I agree that Rongey amounted to nothing more than an insufferable lout during his tenure as Reinsdorf's cabana boy, he can be engaging/entertaining/absurdly funny and has become somewhat knowledgeable about a variety of sports, particularly baseball.

Based on Friday's show, it seems like a Bernstein-Rongey show would resurrect much of the Boers & Bernstein comedy aesthetic, a welcome possibility for anyone who has suffered through the past 1.5 years of the depressingly Decastrated Bernstein & McKnight show.

I hope Friday's gig was an audition for Rongey. With DeCastro on the way out, I can't imagine McKnight has much job security at the Score.
