Did you know the basis for that painting was a picture in National Geographic?

The oil of the two dogs was painted by Nicholas Pileggi’s mother, and is based on a photograph from the November 1978 issue of National Geographic. Pileggi was the author of Wise Guy, a treatment of the life of gangster Henry Hill, on which Good Fellas is based.

The dog on the bench looks almost exactly like my dog (in the picture, not the painting).

Find a second dog and re-enact the picture, maybe there's a good forest preserve that looks like that.
