1. The station as a whole, and the 9-Noon slot in particular, is better now that Dan is solo.
2. Since his demotion from the drive time slot a few years back, he is more likeable.
3. When he’s engaged and not acting holier than thou he’s the best interviewer on the station.
4. If, and when, he gets paired with someone again, Spiegs would be the best choice

That is certainly an opinion.

I listen to Dan Patrick during his time slot. They actually have fun with sports. I listened to Dan when he invited his listeners to change the channel and haven't looked back.

I agree that Spiegs would “stand up” to Dan in a way that only Parkins would do. Mac isn’t intimated by Bernsie but he’s too disinterested to give a sh day after day. And the station would be better served with Bernsie and Parkins driving different time slots.

Bernstein has no cache anymore. ANYbody can stand up to him.

Meatpants would attempt to stand up to him, but it would go bad quickly. Meatpants is too sensitive and would get his feelings hurt. This would happen quite often back in transitions when Bernsie was in the afternoon and meat was in midday.

Bernsie is probably best solo right now. He needs a partner that he respects and who can stand up to him in ways and not get their feelings hurt. I don't really know anyone right now on the station that could do that. Mac clearly would, they could make it work for awhile but long term they would both be ready to kill each other.

I knew Bernstein solo would be fine. McDoink just agreed with him anyway. Plus Doink never has any interesting or funny stories. Where Bernstein does. Bernstein can be funny. McDoink can't.

They're just gonna leave Bernstein solo for some time. This company is in no position to hire people at this point. Maybe when sports come back they'll give him a partner. Or maybe they'll realize they don't have to. Why pay an extra salary when Bernstein is fine solo?

Give him a few guests. Then when he needs to talk to somebody, the two producers can hop in.

Bernstein has absolutely zero leverage. ESPN is oddly married to their lineup and no one else in radio is hiring. He's old so he can't switch careers and needs cash flow to pay for fancy ass colleges. If Score management wants to keep him on staff they should just hammer his compensation or otherwise go younger with a far cheap(er) Parkins type. There are a ton of those out there.

Dirty management but times are desperate and radio is getting destroyed.

And why is that?

I have actually listened to the Score for years. I listened to Meat with Mac, Meat with Goff, Meat with Parkins...and I have listened to Mac since his days on the Heavy Fuel Crew thru this show with Parkins. I would venture to say I have listened to as much Meat and Mac as anyone on this board.

I agree. A Bernstein and Spiegel show would not have worked in the past but they have both been taken down a couple notches since their adversarial Transition days. Spiegel would just be happy to have a show and Bernstein would know that the next move for him would be a firing. Like I wrote a couple days ago you need to make two shows out of Parkins, Mac, Bernstein, and Spiegel. Bernstein and Parkins need to be the show drivers.
