Well those reactions only strengthened it. The right in Europe played on the denialism and "religion of peace" horseshit to great effect.

Without the terror wave in Germany and France there is no Brexit and the refugee spigot would still be open.

Instead you have a Danish PM who is otherwise pretty left but maintains maybe the strictest (aside from the obvious Czech, Hungarian etc. where refugees are just killed) immigration policy in Europe. Merkel is sending back more than she takes in because AfD almost won. LePen made it to the final round in France.

Point is, the establishment mindset in Europe is now stridently anti-immigration and that is a direct product of bad faith exploitation by the right of terror attacks in France, Belgium, Germany and Spain.
