Bernstein was talking about how it feels like something has been taken away from White Sox fans. The joy of watching your team develop into a champion has been taken away. When has he ever enjoyed a team's journey to being a champion? He spent years telling everyone that winning seasons don't matter, division titles don't matter, and conference championships don't matter. Championships are all that matter. 

But now he feels like something joyful and precious has been taken away?

And, aside from the fact that I kind of like the hire if only because the self-righteous, right-side-of-history hosts hate it, I actually think it makes some sense. Shoring up the little things, handling a bullpen, and being cool under pressure are just a few things they can learn from LaRussa. And the concept of young guys learning and (gasp!) adapting a bit because of an older, wiser leader apparently is a wicked, forbidden concept.

I actually think, in some ways, this is exactly what the team needs.
