I was hung over yesterday morning and was too lazy to change the dial in my car and heard about 7 minutes of Dan and Leila and it’s comical how “serious” they still take the COVID/Sports angle.

There’s no way either of them truly believe a healthy, fit 20 something who is already vaccinated is in any real danger. But they can transmit it to a grandmotherr!!!! Really Dan?

I heard him drop that take on Mully and Haugh as well. However, they let it slide. I was surprised to hear that he holds that position. It's very much in line with what I have been hearing from Clay Travis, and those two seem to be on different ends of the political spectrum.

Let everyone play. Flu, no symptoms, whatever. This is not going anywhere and breakthrough cases will be common. By any numbers, the people who die from this or get seriously ill are older people and/or those with underlying conditions. This is not a zero sum game. Everyone has had 9 months to get vaccinated, booster shots are available. Enough.

Much of this has and will continue to be based upon the complete lack of curiosity amongst the general public. From the very beginning I have been pointing out that if you actually research the individual that is being trotted out as an expert by the media you will find out that most of them are either academic types like Fauci, PHD's, or not infectious disease (ID) physicians. The ID docs are among the most respected in the regional system I'm at, all the other specialists defer to them, but I never see them interviewed anywhere locally, likely because they are too busy actually working to waste time doing media crap.

It has devolved into a fascinating picture of current political ideologies, with right wingers falling totally for antivax arguments because they have not ability or interest in actually understanding the human immune system, and the lefties falling blindly for whatever expert is trotted out because they blindly believe that politicians are actually smarter than they are and therefore trust them with their lives.

Not sure which is worse, but you will run into almost identical walls if you try to provide alternative information to either side, so been taking the good ole' southern route and just saying, "bless your heart", and moving on whenever the subject is brought up.

Just remember that the only reason any organism exists is to reproduce and viruses have millions of years experience in morphing and adapting to survive and reproduce, the flu virus is always ahead of the current vax, we survive mostly bases on inherited or acquired immunity via previous exposure.

i caught some of this in the car and dan was curiously silent as florio seemed to have had enough with the virus and told us that he believes it's safe to play football outdoors..no player to player transmission during a game...etc.

i believe that dan was silent because he was biting his tongue, as the current surge in covid cases goes against his take on the virus and vaccines. in april, dan went off on cubs players who questioned the efficacy of the vaccines available. he tore into the 'educational process' argument used by the players.

over 200 million americans are vaccinated, millions more have had the virus and yet we're seeing a surge in cases. what happened to herd immunity? no herd immunity for the cold? is this the cold or flu? first studies suggest this variant 'only' attacks the nose/bronchial tissue and not the lungs?

it sucks to be wrong, especially publicly. it sucks even more for him, as i believe he has family in medicine and therefore, he is an expert.

On the show last night, Parkins (of all people) seemed to be on board with the NBA no longer testing fully vaccinated asymptomatic players. Bernstein is going to be the last hold out.

i just hope we look back on all this and realize our attempts at controlling the pandemic were useless and next time theres a bad cold going around we find something else to worry about.

The oddest thing is that Dan's blind faith in liberal politicians is much more fervent that belief of the Christian evangelicals he so roundly mocks on a regular basis.
