I don't know if Butkus is all world. I just see highlights. My perception is that he was on the aptly named Bears, because once he got his claws on you, it was over.

Everything I'm reading is Dick Butkus kept his political views private. Which would be highly unusual for an actor (109 credits) in a highly liberal profession.

Butkus not being a hate target for Bernstein could be tied into Doug Buffone's close friendship with Butkus. Also Buffone's wife working at the Score must of made Bernstein think attacking Butkus would be unwise that he wouldn't be attacking a punching bag but with Butkus' appeal and friends there could be counter punching. Whatever reason or combination of reasons Bernstein didn't attack Butkus how it would effect his wallet would be a major reason like any direction Bernstein takes in who to hate and who not to hate.
