I used to love this segment, and I don't see why it would not fit with the afternoon drive. As mentioned in another thread, heavy, serious, angry sports days could see Second Hand News skipped. But it would be great most days. Although many sports topics discussed could not miss a whole critical segment  :D it could still show up the other days.

Anyone else?

I wasn't around for the original run. It sounds like a really good bit. I like it....

Second hand news was always one of my favorite segments back when they were on from 10 - 2. Every day one of the breaks was just in time for SHN, and it made a crappy job better just by making me laugh. It is time to bring it back!

Second Hand news was always my favorite B&B segment back in the day. I even liked the open for it. If doing it 5 days a week is too much maybe just do it once or twice a week to let the stories build up. I am 100% behind bringing this back.

I agree they should bring it back. I've missed it. It may not be an every day thing, but it should definitely be used.

That's fine. Personally I'd like to see the return of the original Who Ya Crappin'. Call out someone for something they said, they did, or they stand for. With as much blood curdling vitriol as can be mustered, barring a stroke.

Its now emasculated and not as much fun...

It'd definitely work on sports-dead months like February. I miss the Spectrum organ for all the names (currently only used for the interns).

Hearing that reminded me of how much more I enjoyed the 10-2 B & B.

Agreed, they were much better at mid-days.

Second Hand News rocked, and could rock again.

High Noon was a nice recap. Sounded a little odd at 4PM though.

I've mentioned it to dan a few times, but they don't seem to want it back.

Time to stuff the ballot box!

The fans are voicing their opinion Matt, Jason, and Dan. It would fit just fine on an afternoon drive sports show. Anyone else feel this way?

I never understood why they pulled it in the first place.

So it is posted, so it shall be (should be?) done?

Agreed, maybe it was because all the parties involved were less jaded in the early years, myself included.

+1

I'm all for bringing it back. I liked them on 10-2 as well.

I am a huge fan of this segment. It is one of the reasons I started listening back in 2004. I don't think they will bring it back for 2 reasons.

1. When they had the 10 - 2 shift, second hand news was a news story segment at a time of day when people hadn't digested all of the news during that news cycle. The topics could still be new and fresh. Now that they are basically on from 1:30 - 6, and the time window for this segment is more like 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM, it is too late during the day...no longer fresh.

2. It probably takes some amount of effort to put together for a daily bit. If you don't have to do it, why do it? Less stress on the show as a whole.

I still would like to see it back.

It seemed like the show was more goofy back then. They spent a lot more time on bits and they would let the callers talk, then if the callers were dumb they'd make fun of them later. I think Bernstein decided they should try to be more serious when they made the switch, and Boers has just gotten old and bitter.

EDIT: But I still love it and I still listen every day. I'm just clarifying what the differences were, in my opinion.

I disagree. The stories they discuss are usually out of the mainstream. Sometimes they're not even current (in the "news sense" of within 24 hrs)...thus freshness is generally not an issue.
