...and I.....just..........yikes. I've avoided this show for like a year and it appears that it is just the way I left it. Absolutely horrible. Sweet sassy molassy, that was bad. Hanley "joking" Mully "laughing"....my taint hurts....

When you went to turn the dial did Mully say "Ivan, on your way out, talk a little bit about...."

You made it 10 minutes? Why would you do that to yourself?

RPB, that's the most annoying interview technique. They say goodbye to the guy and then proceed to ask another question.

Or the classic Mulligan, "Hey, ah, you know,uh, I uh...." proceeding every question which Mully than answers himself before posing the same question to the person being interviewed.

The on your way out thing probably worked out well in an interview like 15 years ago (got an intersting extended answer), so he made it a staple of the repotoire

Mulligan is easily one of the worst interviewers I've ever heard. Half of his "questions" are statements. He steps all over the guest. Never asks anything remotely interesting....

Krazy Ivan? I was yelling that at DeJesus back in the 70s before he was traded for Sandberg!

I have it on for 8-10 minutes each morning, which is the extent of
my morning commute. It was especially bad this morning with PED talk.
I do it mostly because I know that when I turn it off and walk into work, things
are immediately going to get better. Not the usual dreading work feeling,
especially on a Monday.

That's why BF likes them. Half of Biggie's statements are questions.

I've had two separate journalists on two separate occasions tell me that "one more question," even if it's not one more question, gets people to loosen up a lot.

How do M&H have such excellent ratings if the show is so bad?

Another annoying thing about Mully I'm not sure I've pointed out before: he says "uh" all the time, but instead of just saying "uh" in between words, he hitches the "uh" onto the end of a random, mid-sentence word.

Like:

"The Bears ar-uh, looking at the situatio-nuh with their defensive line depth."

Now that you're aware he does this, you'll find him 14% more irritating.

Thanks jerk. I was just starting to numb myself to this show.

The "Uh" stuff is terrible but he also does the "Emmm..." a lot as well.

I'm sure I've said this before, but as someone who legitimately has a speech impediment it BLOWS MY FUCKING MIND that someone who hosts a radio show in morning drive in the 3rd largest market in the country talks like that. Doesn't he have any professional or personal pride?

Hell, I would think the station would send him to a community college or something to take a public speaking or articulation class. Kerry Sayers, Abbatacola, Silvy, and Waddle all speak poorly, IMHO. Silvy and Waddle both misspeak and then say "Uhhh..." with great frequency. Kerry Sayers is so bad it has to be intentional or a joke of some sort. I'm sure I'm hyperaware of it because of my personal situation, but Christ, I can't believe how poorly they speak and manage to have on-air jobs in a major market.

It's baffling.

About the only two people on either station with regular mic time who sound like professional broadcasters are Bernstein and Holmes.

Why does Don Cooper still appear on this show? He's red-assed every time I've heard.

I don't know any more.

A few days ago I listened for over 10 minutes for the first time in months and was glad to hear Bruce Levine. Is he on there regularly yet?

I love hearing baseball talk, especially during football seasons when the NFL is oozing out of everywhere.

Maybe I'm too dense to appreciate Brad Biggs.

I care

I think there's a pretty large group of Marquette grads in Chicagoland. I mean there are worse things they could talk about.

I'd wager there are more grads of Iowa, Purdue, Indiana or Wisconsin than Marquette in Chicago. Tune into Milwaukee radio like I do for Packers talk if they want Marquette talk. There's Cubs, Sox, MLB, Bears, Bulls, and Hawks talk that's more relevant than who coaches stupid ass Marquette.

Some guy called into W&S yesterday to tear into Silvy and basically all of Chicago sports media for not talking enough Marquette.

I think you might be way underestimating the Marquette contingent in Chicago.
