Cutler has a much stronger arm than wilson.... that's about it as far as what cutler is better at.

but seattle's offense is perfectly tailed to fit Wilson's skill set.... did you see all of the percy harvin plays that worked last night.... all I could think about is why couldnt the bears have had a competent offensive coordinator to run plays like that with Devin in his prime??????

I don't think that's a sound premise. They're paying him the average rate for a QB with his skill set and at his age. The results (and Cutler's results are unremarkable) of a QB's skill set are routinely ignored - all that matters to teams is locking up a starting QB for the long-term (think Andy Dalton). He can get to the SB while being outperformed by conference competitors. They're not linked.
They are paying Cutler much more than his skill set and age though. Cutler has one of the most expensive contracts in the NFL now. He is paid as an elite quarterback. There is no arguing against that.

The Dalton deal isn't anything close. Dalton only has $17 million guaranteed.

While Wilson is better the question is still irrelevant. The Bears clearly think Cutler is good enough to get them to the SB, and if he does it wouldn't be the first time a QB outside of the top 5 or top 10 best QBs made and won a Superbowl.

Other than Dilfer what other QB in the 25-32 range has won a Super Bowl?

I'll start from non-top 10 QBs, and I'll limit to to making a Superbowl:

Kaep
Flacco
Grossman
Hasselback
Roethlisberger (rookie version)
Brad Johnson
Delhomme
Kerry Collins

On the bubble: Eli Manning
The problem is that almost all of those players were relatively cheap. You can overcome a mediocre starting quarterback if they are cheap.

I'll grant you that one, but then the question is to what extent has the Bears' personnel strategy been limited by Cutler's salary numbers. You can justify being limited by someone like Manning or Brady, but not so much with Cutler I guess.

Even Wilson is probably not a top 5 QB. Here are mine:

Manning
Rodgers
Brady
Luck
Brees

I would move Brady off that ranking, and put Wilson there.

If you read the thread RPB is pretty clearly not serious.

He is posting like he has had at least 3 cups of coffee today.

If Cutler had Brees' weapons, O line, talent and accuracy he'd put up the same numbers

The fact that none of you have put Culter in your top 5 or 10 says enough. As for the argument that he has a stronger arm than Wilson, you know who had a stronger arm that Cutler? JaMarcus Russell. Doesn't automatically make you a great quarterback. Wilson is the shit.

My top 5 would go:

1. Rodgers
2. Brady
3. P. Manning
4. Rothlisberger
5. Wilson
6. Brees
7. Rivers

That's using Bob's ranking system.

Would put Cutler probably somewhere in the range of 15 - 20. I'm sure I could think of another eight quarterbacks better than Cutler, including Flacco, E. Manning, Luck, Newton, Ryan, Foles, Kaepernick and Romo, in no particular order.

Cutler would have been better before the advent of the West Coast offense and the rules that favor offenses.

His skills are not suited for today's NFL. Strong arms aren't that important and decision-making and accuracy are extremely important.

That bottom grouping is exactly where Cutler belongs except I think luck is better than all of them. I can see an argument of any of those being better. Throw Stafford in their too. There is no way I would have inked cutlers new contract although I knew Emery would. Jay is good but far from great.

I know you're making a point here...

Just ya know....its kind of a ridiculous question

Anyway, it'd be easier to list QB's who are worse than Cutler

E.J. Manuel
Chad Henne
Geno Smith

Who would have thought Brady was going to be a bust this year after the game against Miami? If he really can't play any more, who's going to tell him? Would Belichick have the balls to sit him down? They said Brady was Donovan McNabb bad.

So far my other top 7 QB picks are ok, though Rivers didn't get it done yesterday. The NFL seems up for grabs this year, other than Seattle and Denver steamrolling. Hard to fathom it, but maybe Detroit's the best in the NFC North this year.
