Thanks to Mac for initially sharing this to allow us to understand the situation. Thanks to Keeping Score for posting the David Haugh story. It's one of the best pieces I have read from him. Sorry for what the Jurkovich family is going through and will have to go through each day - particularly on Christmas, Fathers day, anniversarys birthdays and other occassions when his presence will surely be missed by his family.

Definitely not fair, but Mirko's attitude sounds like the best that one can have in this situation. Far too young for this to happen, but I'm sure Jurko and his family would agree on the "quality of life" over "quantity" in this case.

Keep fighting the good fight, Mirko. And best wishes to the Jurkovic family.

I'll always think of him as a Bear, Golden Domer and a Meteor. I remember him going all the way back to when I was in high school and the TF North vs. TF South games.

Great to hear Jurko on at 5 yesterday talking about things. Sounds like they are coping as best they can, and at least they get to spend some time with Mirk and say their goodbyes.

Great part of the story talking about their golf trip to Florida. Not sure if it was Sawgrass or not, but it sounded pretty recent. Jurko said that his brother, a friend, and himself were sitting around after the round relaxing and adding up their scores. Turns out that Mirko beat the friend of theirs so Mirko said to the guy, "Heh, look at that. I beat you, and I have cancer."

Really was a light hearted moment among a very serious conversation. I guess that is the best thing you can do in a situation like that-- just remember the good times and have a few last laughs.
