Thank You. I am amazed at how much influence outside forces seem to have in Derek's situation. MJ would NEVER have let anyone keep him from competing once a doctor gave him the okay to play. But he LOVED the game and loved to compete. That's what made him so special. MJ had a decidedly inferior supporting cast when he was coming back from the ankle injury and could easily have sat out (healing the ankle fully) until the next season. Instead, he drove the team to the last playoff spot and then did everything possible to try to overcome the Celtics in the playoffs. Sure they lost in 4 straight, but not because Michael didn't give his all. No way you could keep that man off the court. Competition drove him and when the odds were greatest against him, he just dug deeper to try to overcome them.
