Maybe I am the only one that likes these guys, though admittedly I only listen for about 20 minutes every morning on the way to work. I find them to be, unlike most sports talkers, seemingly decent human beings, and they are the least insular of the ESPN hosts in terms of a willingness to look outside the east coast sports cocoon (okay, I'll admit the Jets stuff gets annoying). I also like the fact they keep the show PG rated, and both have a self-deprecating sense of humor that is pretty rare among broadcasters, who generally possess overinflated egos. I suppose some of their bits are rather contrived, but I find they have a nice personal chemistry. Are they especially provocative? Probably not. But they don't do controversy for the sake of controversy, either, and they aren't screechy or overbearing. I could do without some of their regularly scheduled guests, like Dickie V., but I think the hosts do a nice job on most days.

Yea, you obviously listen for only 20 minutes. How many times have we heard Greenie say something has "really taken a life of its own" and then he goes out and asks each guests their opinion on it hoping for some big reaction and the guests are like, uhh no and why are we talking about this?

Thank you Woodridge. How many times have they spent entire shows treating nothing matters involving T.O., Bobby Knight, whomever else like another war's about to break out. All they do is drive the same topic into the ground. Bad radio.

I had the misfortune of catching a lot of this show today while in the car. Nothing tops Greenie's tease about what his wife emailed him. Oh joy, more Greenie family shenanigans. And Golic is not fat. If Golic is fat then I must need lapband surgery.

I don't HATE the show, but it seems more like it's geared towards the casual fan.

Should a new thread be started titled "Tazered: Day Two?"

It was good to hear Mike Vrabel's insight into Greenie getting tazered.

Mayeb I missed it, but yo answer yesterday's questions:

Yes, Golics son gave a firm verbal to the Irish

They play Whitney everytime the Jets are mentioned at all. Pennington is his favorite.

I only listen about 30-40 min on the morning drive also since its the only option tolerable. I can't tell who they are after to listen to this. Between the sweet/ no sweet talk, and the feminization of Greenie it almost seems like they are after some women listeners. No self-resepcting sportsfan is interested in most of their routine I don't think.

Have you heard any of his work as the color guy for the Diamondbacks? BAD! And it has nothing to do with being a White Sox fan; stop painting with such a narrow brush. There's been plenty of ex-Cub players that would work well in broadcasting/radio.

Players like Ron Santo, Dave Otto, and Joe Carter.

Sorry, I didn't catch it. I've been traveling for work too much and am a bit of a drone right now. I'll try to work harder on my message boarding.

Anybody read Greenie's book? I can only imagine its a shameful display of him pandering to his inner diva.

Naw Doug, that was my portrayal of how Greenie does his stupid teases...a lot of build up for nothing. The metrosexual part was merely added for more content. LOL...

Thing is I used to like this show a lot, but the two just drive me nuts now. I did read his book because I have been a fan of his for a long time. It wasn't what I expected. It was an ok book. And for the most part, it didn't show too much metrosexualness out of him. If anything I was floored by some of the words he used in his book.

I read it, too, and was surprised by the F-Bombs. It was basically his journal put into print. A lot about his family and friends, a little bit about sports, and nothing about his Radio Show.

I thought his book was good - and the swearing in there was a TOTALLY different picture of Greenie than you get on the air, although it is hinted at when he is on with MJH or when he used to visit with Silvy and Carmen. Same thing happened when I read the SportsGuys book too
