Two weeks ago, Greenie applauds the new NFL Comish for suspending Pacman Jones for a year despite the fact there was no precedent for the suspension and Goodell seemingly followed no written guidelines. Today, Greenie complains about the Stoudamire suspension, despite the fact that the rule on leaving the bench during an altercation is crystal clear. Then, in another segment this morning, he applauds the Packers for criticizing Favre for missing a mandatory mini-camp, and says (or implies) he hopes that Favre is fined. Is their some underlying principle here, or is Greenie just an admirer of arbitrary executive action? Seems to me the latter. Clearly, if the rules should be enforced in Favre's case, they should be enforced in Stoudamire's as well, no? Good thing he is only a sportscaster, and doesn't have an actually important job where he might have to establish/enforce rules. He would make a horrible boss ... |
