Tim Kirchin (sp?) actually said that he opposes instant replay in baseball because "it would bring the game to a screaching halt?"

Has he ever watched a game? It's a 3 hour game that contains what, a total of 20 minutes of actual action? Wouldn't want to stop that break-neck pace.

Douche.

right. it's a delay of a game that is almost all delay.

however, one thing that i've really gotten annoyed with football is the commercials, and if baseball introduced replay, that would definitely add more commercial breaks to the game.

but beside that possibly menial point (because, we're not gonna stop advertisements since this world lives and breathes them), i really don't understand in the 21st century why ANY professional sport does not have instant replay.

or at least, just like in tennis, have the eagle eye for all the lines in baseball to see if something is fair or foul, etc.

You could check a replay after every Trachsel pitch and it wouldn't throw off his timing.

I like how Kirchin went from "I hate the idea of instant replay" to "I'd use it on Homeruns and foul balls". Isn't that what everyone is saying? No one is saying use instant replay to check balls and strikes.

I've noticed that with the networks going to commercials at replays it has lessoned the tv timeouts during a game.

I think it would save time if they did it like college football where there would be a replay official. This way he could get on it right away and we don't have to watch the crew chief on the field walk around all day back and forth from the booth.

I think you could even have 1 replay guy for more than one game.
