I've actually been listening a fair amount this week since Greenberg is on vacation. I don't think all the fill-ins are great, but I've found that the main reason I don't listen to this show is Greenberg. I also seem to like Golic more when Greenberg is not around, too.

How can he not be on this week to talk about sheets of integrity?

Tad, this has become my morning show. It's not without its flaws but even at its worst, it's SO much better than the Score alternative. And I agree that the show is better this week without the Golic/Greenberg "odd couple" act.

I knew we'd find our common ground again.

I was listening the other morning while I was making my lunch and during commercial flipped over to 670 and was greeted by the lovechild of Casper and Frankenstein screaming MULLY AND HANLEY ON THE SCORE.

Brutal.

If they ditched Greenie I'd listen a lot more, but I know that will never happen.

Maybe the next time Greenie goes on vacation we can ride around the lakefront on a bicycle built for two some morning listening to the show on a transistor radio. That would be fun. And not at all weird.

I'm 100% onboard with the bike idea and I'm insulted that it's taken you this long to suggest it.

I'm a tad shy. I'm also apparently a tad snubbed...again. I hope BRick's Dodge Stratus has a significant amount of out-of-warranty repairs.

The only way Greenberg leaves is getting promoted to bigger and better things. There's no way that ESPN messes with "The Golden Boy and the Golden Goy" for any reason other than that.

Wait till June when there's nothing but baseball to talk about...er I should say there's nothing but the Yankees and Red Sox to talk about.

The Yankees won't really be a story because they'll be bad. I guess Mariano Rivera's final season will be a story, but that's about it. The Red Sox will probably be bad too.

Apparently you haven't listened during baseball season. They are the only teams that matter. In fact if they are both bad that will be even more of a reason for them to dissect them.

Wow. That's unfortunate. Haven't really listened to the show until the last few months. I'm not looking forward to the Yankee/Red Sox thing.

That is the worst part of the year for Mike and Mike and it definitely leads me to PTFB.

Yeah, it's like what ESPN was doing w/ La Lakers early on this season when they seemed left for dead. That's why I thank Jeebus that Los Heat have knocked them off the airwaves.

I didn't realize we had suck a Mike & Mike following on here.

Let me ask you all something, if WGN had Pappy on in the morning, would you listen to:

1. Mike & Mike
2. Mully and Hanley
3. Pappy (and probably Jiggs I imagine)
4. Kill yourself

I already listen to 1, but if I had the stones to do it, I'd go w/ 4.

As W_Z mentioned in another thread, Mike and Mike's Joaquin is awful. Just awful. His parody songs or anything else he does are an automatic PTFB.

Didn't he also do TK's show back in the day?

That show was unlistenable, so it would not surprise me. :)

Flipping around...Confirmed.

I think part of the reason so many national ESPN personalities are so bland and meek is the myriad conflict of interests that characterize ESPN's business and journalistic sides. I presume they are directed to not approach certain topics in certain ways, and perhaps avoid other topics all together. Given those sets of constraints, I can see how tempting it is to fill airtime with insipid conversations on Tim Tebow vs Mark Sanchez, or why Jay Cutler is at fault for RGIII's injury. There's also a little bit of lowest common denominator strategy mixed in since you don't want to offend or alienate your markets. All of it makes for a consistently bland product.
