I tried to avoid the show this morning, but I stumbled on it and they were wondering if Rex's performance was the worst ever by a QB in the superbowl. WHAT? He was pretty bad, but worst ever? Big Ben was TERRIBLE last year. Are their memories that short? Whatever, I'm sick of this.

Did Rex complete a pass?

Yes? Then, he's one up on Tony Eason.

4 turnovers again, though. Probably not the worst ever, but very possibly in the team photo.

I know it was a different era, but I remember Tarkenton with a horrendous game one year. Looked it up--SB 9: 11 for 26 for 102 yards with 3 INT. Now that is a pretty bad performance.

I think Rex only had 3 turnovers - fumble/2Int, Benson and Reid had the other fumbles.

His game was pretty bad. No need to make it worse.

Craig Morton, Denver Broncos, Super Bowl XII

4-14 39 yards, 4 interceptions.

2 fumbles. He fumbled the snap not once, but twice. Bah-rutal.

Check out this article.

The Bears more or less lost this game due to turnovers. 6 is about 4 too many.

He fumbled the snap twice but he recovered one of them so only one was an actual turnover. Either way it is a brutal play. I'm not going to defend the merits of a fumbled snap. But they did maintain possession.

EDIT - I read that guy's article and he is wrong. Grossman recovered his second fumble as part of their back to back 11 yard loss possession.

How about everyone's favorite, John Elway? From Coldhardfootballfacts.com:

His performance in Super Bowl XXIV, a 55-10 loss to San Francisco, was one of the worst by a quarterback in Super Bowl history (10 of 26, 108 yards, 0 TD, 2 INTs, 19.4 rating).

greenberg's a windbag sometimes. i heard that on the way to work and i was just shaking my head. the two of them have a tendency to have "morning head" where i think they've woken up too early to actually use their brains. their points made are sometimes so poorly thought out that i have to either laugh or turn it off. still a better show than dan patrick's though

I wasn't putting much stock into anything they said after Greenie said his favorite commerical of the superbowl was the one with Barkley and Wade...you know the one that has been airing during every sporting even since the NBA season started. I guess watching sports is not a prereq for working at a sports network.

Tony Eason/Steve Grogan
Kelly/Reich vs Dallas in 92
Collins vs. the Ravens
And those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Rex gets a F...but not as low as an F as those two.

Salisbury in... oh wait, that was the Grey Cup! Damn! And he won! Double Damn!

Still, converting for the lower value of the Canadian dollar and Canadian football, I am confident in saying Sean-O would have been the worst SB performance of all time.
