Jim might want to start calling Cleveland, and find out what it will take to get C.C.

I thought he should do that, no matter how Z's doing.

Yeah I agree, but if Z is out a while, he needs that #1 starter. I highly doubt Dempster keeps this going, he will tire in the 2nd half, and Lilly has been up and down all year.

It seems to me that Z's cramps and other things seem to pop up in most games he is not dominating. Z will be fine and be on a pitch count for a few days, thats my feeling.

Absolutely. Sure seems like he manages to get these random ailments on days when he's getting shelled. Either way I hope he really is okay. I'm really enjoying baseball on both sides of town this season and that would be a huge loss.

I realize I was gone for a while (on vacation), but shouldn't Kid be responding to your offer RW?

I'll refrain from panick until the test results are in. But the Cubs should make a trade to strengthen the rotation, reguardless of the results. In the playoffs and World Series, you need 3 strong starters.

They will perform the MRI tomorrow, and have the results afterwards.

He may have to be put to sleep but they are getting a second opinion.

Well, Dr. Gryzlo performed a surgery on one of my shoulders once and it still isn't quite right, so I'd say the outlook is bad.

Encouraging news. MRI shows it's just a little strain, no damage in the shoulder, labrum or cuff.

Unfortunately the Cubs medical staff is involved. A prognosis that includes missing one or two starts or a week or two usually means one or two months in actual Cub time.

From what I have heard, Zambrano's shoulder is strained. It might be the result of throwing so many pitches, which is something most teams are trying to limit to no more than 125 per start. Yeah, he's a workhorse, but the pitch count & his volcanic temper are two things Lou Piniella & pitching coach Larry Rothschild should be very concerned about as the season gets into the "Dog Days" of July & August. It will not surprise me if Carlos lands on the DL before tomorrow's game, plus sits out until after the All-Star break. Zambrano is THAT IMPORTANT if the Cubs want to bring a World Series title to Clark & Addison this season.

Still wonder if his little tirade with the water cooler was where it happened.

He can sit on the DL for 15 days and still throw over 200 innings this year. This is not that big a deal.

Zambrano slammed those 2 Gatorade coolers during a nationally televised FOX/MLB game at Dodger Stadium, in the opposite dugout where a Dodger left hander took a baseball bat after he struggled a couple years earlier...Carlos felt the discomfort in his shoulder at dumpy Tropicana Field in his last start...
