all im saying is that it is a risk worth taking - it looks like they are serious about trying to win a world series. they werent going to with the starting rotation the way it was.

THis Harden trade was a GREAT trade. Sean Gallagher was not taking you to the playoffs this year. He imporved every game, he could get better, but I will roll the dice with Harden and his 5th best BAA in MLB. I know he can get hurt, but so can Ben Sheets, so could Bobby Jenks

This is a fucking coup for the Cub. In Harden, they get a guy that should make their rotation as strong as team's rotation they'll face in the playoffs. To get him, they give up a nice young pitcher in Gallagher, a couple of guys who were never going to be of much use to the Cub in Patterson and Murton, and a prospect who plays a position the Cub should have on lock for at least the next 5 years. To boot, they got a decent young pitcher who can spot start or pitch long in the bullpen.

The only possible downside is Harden's injury proneness, but even so, with the players the Cub gave up this year, this deal doesn't figure to hurt them at least for this year. Also, Harden's got another year under contract, which is perfect, IMO: they get another shot with this team next year if they don't get it done this year, but they're not on the hook for a bunch of the years if the injury problems continue or even worsen.
