My good friends, there is big trouble afoot! This team cannot afford to be losing to teams like the Reds! Every game must be a win! A winning team never loses a game! Nothing can be taken for granted! Some pretty serious talk should be going on about shaking things up a bit in the lineup! Clearly something is going wrong! Adjustments must be made, and fast! Ted Lilly was left in too long! The hitters let too many chances go by! The Brewers AND the Cardinals won!

I tell you again, all must fear for the future of this team! Jim Hendry needs to patch up the holes in this roster, in a very Kenny Williams-like way! Only Kenny Williams would capable of turning this thing around, he is so very wise, and brilliant, and charismatic!

Woe upon all who cheer for the Cubs - a storm is coming, a storm of epic proportions! Good teams NEVER lose! Run for the hills!

PANIC! PANIC! PANIC!

Finally, some sanity posted in this crazy Cub world. I'm not the only one that think these guys fucking blow.

That is the one knock on the Cubs this year. That offense can still be inconsistent at times, and they have not been good in 1 run games this year. Len said thier record was something like 17-20, and for a team thats going to win at least 97 or 98 games, that is not good.

For all you haters out there, Frank can talk Cub baseball without being a South-side prick. Just the facts, ma'am.
He is still a chubby little rascal, however.

Yea those 1-run games aren't all they are cracked up to be. Hell the night before was a 1-run game until they just happened to put up 4 in the eighth. That has happened on more than one occassion this year. Last night had an odd feeling to it, kinda like they were just expecting to win. It was kind of a blah game that just felt weird. Dunno, seems like these happen moreso on Wednesday Home night games more than any other day. But to hell with it. PANIC!

Fucking Arroyo. I thought the days of the Cubs being utterly owned by this tool were over. They need a good performance from Z today; losing a series at home to the hapless Reds would be pretty bad.

Fogg vs. Z. I think Steve has a good chance of being correct on his prediction.

Didn't take DP Lee to get on the board with his first DP of the day. "Gee whiz," says Santo.

he has looked bad, but he still walks and gets on base, and is quite good in right. not a bust, but he sure is struggling. it is painful to watch.

Santo really took that walk to Patterson hard. He is going to have a heart attack in the booth before this year is over.

he's eventually going to have some of Matsui's power and some of Ichiro's pitch selectiveness...just how much is open to conjecture, but they're not even paying him top dollar anyways...

I'd just like to apolog-i to Kerry Wood for questioning his ability to handle the closer's role back in May.

Pretty lackluster 2 out of 3 series win (expected at leat one blowout), but I'll take it.

Hopefully the offense breaks out this weekend against the Nats especially with Marquis tomorrow.

someone, somewhere has made a faustian pact with the devil...that is the only way to explain Kerry Wood's functionality at this stage...

This series was kind of weird and bad. Also, Corey Patterson has looked absolutely terrible and probably has no business playing on a major league team.

On a similar note, Dusty Baker is a terrible manager and has no business managing in the bigs, much less getting paid as much as he does.

I agree it was weird, but I will take 2 out of 3 everytime.

The game on Wednesday was a dud. But having a team focused and performing at a high level for every game is just not realistic. They basically took Wednesday off. It was a bad game against a bad team that they just seemed to lack motivation for. They still took the series and are again at 29 games over .500 . Now they can look to beat up on the Nat's. The Nationals have poorer pitching, so the third base coach (Quade) should be giving that rotator cuff a workout once again.

maybe they should bring in Wavin' Wendle for this series to give Quade a break...side note, I know a guy who went to school with Quade (my father-in-law) he says that Quade was one of the best athletes he ever saw come out of that school...also he's been bald for a long time, has some sort of condition...
