I just find these last few pages odd. After all, I was told yesterday that no one expected them to win and they wouldn't be hurt because at least they got this far.

What's odd about arguing who should close out the game?

mike sees things that the rest of us dont see.

And holds every Cub fan accountable for the voices in his head

While technically still a complete game, it will be referred to as him throwing a no-hitter.

Which probably means the Cubs lose 2-1 or 1-0.

In a 3-2 loss and Cubs fans will celebrate a quality start.

If you think I am giving up on the Chicago Cubs, you are sadly mistaken. I have every reason to believe that the defending World Series champion will rise up from the ashes and slay the evil Los Angeles Dodgers. Trust me, I am well aware that a 3 to 0 deficit can be overcome.

All that the Cubs have to do is win today and they are practically guaranteed a spot in the most glorious World Series in the history of man versus God's team - the Glorious New York Yankees. A loss today will render the Los Angeles Dodgers pitifully impotent, and they will most surely choke away the remaining games in the series.

In the grand history of this glorious game, you cannot tell me that a so called "man" like Dave Roberts, who was a pitiful Punch and Judy "hitter" (if you can call it that) can lead a team through the buffet line at a Golden Corral, much less lead a team to the glorious World Series. Dave Roberts is such a snake that he will climb all over the back of Don Mattingly to obtain his own personal glory, when really he has no honor.

I insulated myself from further pain before yesterday's game. Any wins or positive moments from yesterday morning forward are merely a gift bestowed on my Cubs fandom. In this way, I will not be hurt in any way by poor play or a Cubs loss. And further, I will gain the benefit of all excitement and positive play. I call this my Cubs call option. The premium has already been paid, and at this point, I can lose nothing more and have any upside.

And here's hoping my opportunity to purchase tickets at 2:00 reveals a pair of decent seats!

"You have been selected for the chance to purchase up to four (4) tickets for today's 2017 National League Championship Series (NLCS) Home Game 3 (NLCS Game 5) at Wrigley Field! The game is scheduled to start at 7:08 p.m. CDT today, October 19. Gates are expected to open at approximately 5 p.m. CDT.

Your assigned time to purchase ticket(s) is 2 p.m. CDT today, October 19, 2017. Act quickly at your assigned time as there is limited ticket inventory and interest is extremely high."

Yeah, well, neither has Bryant and Rizzo. We're finding depth doesn't mean shit in the postseason. Your starting 8 need to be better than the other team's starting 8. Having "12 starters" isn't all it was made up to be.

It took too long for Maddon to make the decision, but at least he did. Almora is your full time CF next season, and possibly your leadoff hitter. Might as well begin it now, and he has the best AB's on the club this postseason. Even his outs yesterday were scalded.

I think he is 0-8 with 6 Ks and a terrible error.

I agree with you, but there is no way you can bench Rizzo and Bryant in the playoffs. Even if deserved you just have to hope it changes.

Almora should def be the everyday CF and lead off guy next year.

that error WAS terrible. another brilliant move, bringing a converted second baseman in late to play center field. Only Joe would make a defensive replacement WEAKENING the position late in an NLCS game.
