7 double plays, holy shit.

If I'm a Pirates fan I'm punting my newborn inside the 20.

That's a lot of double plays.

DeJesus should fumble with 2 pens in the post-game in tribute.

That damn near has to be a record. They have some bad karma baseball ahead living like that all night.

Probably the 1999-2000 New Jersey Devils. In baseball, I'm not sure.

Didnt the Cubs do this to the brewers earlier this year or late last year?

Ties a National League record from a 1969 game between SF and Houston. SF was the victim.

Maddon, Theo, and Jed have to be thinking when will their luck run out. Another lucky 1-0 win, with absolutely no offense. Cole is dealing, could end up being the biggest deadline deal if this breaks their way in October.

They finally have a slight amount of breathing room with a 4.5 game lead and 3 games in hand. The Brewers are about to implode. Council is under fire for his absurd and strict philosophy that Hader and Jeffress will not be used unless they have a lead. They were down 1 in the 8th and put some shitbird in that put the game out of reach. Their fans are losing it.

I guess non-negotiability is the real n-word.

I have never understood their deal with Hader.

with their need for starting pitching I dont see whhy they havent put him in the rotation or made him the official closer.

He only has two truly effective pitches so he would probably flame out as a starter but the saving him for leads only is ridiculous. Now he will have gone at least a week without pitching in a game and thats if he goes tomorrow.

Am I missing something on almora getting his playing time slashed? He's a sparkplug. His replacements aren't tearing it up.

It's August, not June ... he's been nothing special for some time now.

Overheard Coomer say "Roberto Clemente...didn't he die in a tragic plane crash?" Yeah, I think I've heard people associate Clemente with his untimely death in a plane crash a time or two, maybe. I think Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig's disease, too. I'm gonna look that up to make sure.

Can the Cubs score more than a run tonight? Gut feeling after watching 1 minute of watching the game is they will win tonight.

Maybe Coomer was questioning the "tragic-ness" of it.

Grave danger?

Is there a worst 1st place offense than the Cubs, holy shit. 3 runs in 3 games against shit pitching. These at bats keep getting worse and worse. After this Pirate series they have 9 games against Detroit, Mets, and Reds. 3 teams with awful pitching. If they don't finish with 7 wins at least, they will be fucked. Have a rough stretch after that, and they can't hit for shit.

this team is fooling lots of people but not us fans. I mean I like this team, but some of these wins this 2nd half have been lucky. I'm sure this offensive slump won't last forever but they really got to get out of this funk. They're up 4 which is amazing. If Monty didnt get injured I bet they would have won today 1-0 again.

I'm hoping they get to the post season and have enough to make back to the World Series.

Tragic plane crash....as opposed to all of those funny, beautiful, and wholesome jetliner accidents.
