I guess Lou is saving Marmol to use for the entire series.

Big chance for Edmonds to get a nice shot against Larusa

I heard he went to Idaho to watch his son play. I don't know for how long though.

He's there for the weekend - but only missing today's game. Saturday = Fox broadcast, Sunday = ESPN broadcast.

Whew!

Anybody else as amazed as I am that Izturis still got involved in the Cubs walkoff celebration? Henry Blanco the recipient of the Izturis "happy ending special" today? :D :drunken:

I thought once Howry came in the game, game over. Of course, I thought that meant a Cub loss.

i am sure the Cardinals are kicking themselves over the missed opportunites, two runners thrown out at home, the stranded runners in the eight and ninth.

Time to put the hammer down on the Cards the next two games. The Cubs should hit Wellemeyer tomorrow.

At this point, no matter what the situation is, I assume the Cubs will win all these (regular season) games. They're the best team team in the NL.

That was good. I was ACTUALLY laughing out loud, after reading that post. Touche Spank!

I too, will be happy with 2 of 3, but the Cardinals record, despite having just lost game 1 of the series to the Cubs in a game (Lilly) a left hander started, are a team that has had a tougher time this year against southpaws. So although I consider Zambrano and Dempster superior this season to date, that doesn't mean they will fare as well. Z will be pitching on an extra days rest after working a short day last time out (I think it was just 82-85 pitches) so he should be well rested for this start and I expect he will pitch well enough to beat Wellemeyer, who has just 2 wins in his last 10 starts since coming off the DL with a sore elbow. Sunday will be the toughest game, but if the Cubs take the first 2, it will put a lot of pressure on the Cards and that might have their hitters anxious and that would be an advantage.
Great job by Edmonds and the Bullpen today.

Did you know that the Cubs are one of only 2 teams that Puljols is hitting under .300 against this year? I heard that last week on the ESPN broadcast. I think the other team was the Padres. I just hope they keep getting him out when it matters most.

I had to leave before the game was over, very glad to come home and see the Cubs win! It looks really good to see the Cards 7 games back! Keep it going the next 2 days!

I would love for the cubs to send the cards out of chicago 9 games out. I bet if the cubs win today, tomorrow LaRussa has a pitch launced at Edmonds head.

Holy shit!!!

Eric Karos just said that Soriano is the best lead-off-hitter since Ricky Henderson. He said Soriano is an MVP candidate. What a "baseball idiot."

And these players are suppose to be experts and insightful? Please. Most of us here are smarter than Karos if he believes what he just said.

Another clutch at bat by Lee. Would be nice if he got a big hit sometime this season.

Karros is awful.

The way things are going I doubt 5-2 wins this game, hopefully we can hold the Cards down now and the Offense gets cranked up.

Shit. That's really gonna kick up Z's ERA. 9 runs, all earned, in four and a third innings.

He was 2.76 coming in. This will put it over 3.00. Or pretty close.
