WGN just showed the Stanley Cup at Wrigley. What's it there for?

Alright -
Just got back from "Murphy's" - Slappy told us a couple of months ago that Cheli, Vedder, and Stanley would be there before today's game - but, alas, nothing. I know that they threw out/caught the first pitch, but nothing at Murphy's pregame.

Unfortunately, I didn't have tix to today's game - and didn't feel like scalping to a game involving the Nationals.

The cup is in town because Cheli and Lebda are having their weekend with it - every player on the cup winning team gets their own turn.

It's too bad that the Cubs won't be allowed to take the World Series trophy to Joe Louis, especially if the Hawks were in town.

No offense, Darko, but you may be the dumbest shit all week - you are arguing with E.Steve. :D

If I'm the Angels or the White Sox, I don't want the Cubs carting my trophy around some hockey place!

No owner in baseball wants to compete against a team they collectively own.

Revisionist history at work by Darkie. First he says that owners don't want to compete against a team they are part owners of-even though it was almost 2 years ago the team was sold. Then he says they conspired to get rid of the good players, but the fact is Willie Mo Pena is injured, their closer Cordero is injured, Dimitri Young is out with complications from Diabetes and Nick Johnson is out for the year-I guess the owners conspired to make those things happen....They couldn't resign Soriano or Guerrerro because the prices got too high on those players. Its a smaller market that has a lower payroll. You are just a dumbshit that can't admit when he doesn't know what he's talking about and doesn't even know that the team was sold almost 2 years ago. If owners did conspire to weaken that team by letting their top players go, they would relish the idea of playing the weakened team, whenever the opportunity arose.

Meanwhile, the Cubs lead 4-0 and Marquis is pitching well-albeit against a weak Nationals offense. DeRosa and Lee going deep, with DeRosa reaching Waveland ave. All is well so far in game one. If Marquis gets this one, they go to 30 over .500 . A sweep may well be in store.

Marquis runs into trouble the inning after the Cubs let the Nationals off the hook by facing only four or five pitches. Way to let your pitcher get some rest between innings dumbasses  .

Nothing like walking the first batter you face, and then giving up a grand slam. Lou should know better than to bring Cotts or Howry in with runners on.

Cotts had not been bad. that's a bad pitch, I can live with that.
But the 6th inning from Marquis is pretty unacceptable.

Not to make excuses for him, but his dumbass teammates only gave him a very short breather in between innings thanks to only looking at four or five pitches. Maybe Lou should have had someone warming up a little earlier.

Boy, the Cubs have their "get outs as quickly as possible" offense going.

Edit; that's two straight innings that took less than 5 minutes from the time the pitcher took the mound till the time the PLAYERS were back in the DUGOUT.

Gee, Howry gave up another run. What a shocking development. I totally didn't see that coming.

Looks like Lou has mailed this game in by bringing in Howry to give up another run.

Well, let's see if one of these cocksuckers will actually take a pitch next inning. There's theoretically a lot of game left, if the hitters are willing to remove their heads from their rectal ducts.

Really bad bullpen effort today, but I guess that happens when you bring in your 3 shitty guys.
