Just got back from "Murphy's" - Slappy told us a couple of months ago that Cheli, Vedder, and Stanley would be there before today's game - but, alas, nothing. I know that they threw out/caught the first pitch, but nothing at Murphy's pregame.

Unfortunately, I didn't have tix to today's game - and didn't feel like scalping to a game involving the Nationals.

Revisionist history at work by Darkie. First he says that owners don't want to compete against a team they are part owners of-even though it was almost 2 years ago the team was sold. Then he says they conspired to get rid of the good players, but the fact is Willie Mo Pena is injured, their closer Cordero is injured, Dimitri Young is out with complications from Diabetes and Nick Johnson is out for the year-I guess the owners conspired to make those things happen....They couldn't resign Soriano or Guerrerro because the prices got too high on those players. Its a smaller market that has a lower payroll. You are just a dumbshit that can't admit when he doesn't know what he's talking about and doesn't even know that the team was sold almost 2 years ago. If owners did conspire to weaken that team by letting their top players go, they would relish the idea of playing the weakened team, whenever the opportunity arose.

Meanwhile, the Cubs lead 4-0 and Marquis is pitching well-albeit against a weak Nationals offense. DeRosa and Lee going deep, with DeRosa reaching Waveland ave. All is well so far in game one. If Marquis gets this one, they go to 30 over .500 . A sweep may well be in store.
