What is Brenly looking at?

The fan clearly didn't interfear. He would have had to reach over the top of that wall. He didn't. It was gonna bounce on that platform.

Marmol struck out the first 2 with nasty sliders. Two guys reach and the 3 run shot. I think he let up a little after he got the first 2 guys.

Cardinals and Brewers both won tonight.

Looks like Marmol let his evil twin take over after the first two hitters. Terrible.

I think the camera man kept showing it in slow mo, so he had to say something.

FONTENOT!!! That's a big hit. That little fucker has some pop...and he's been swining it good. On another note, Patterson is worthless.

Yeah, too bad. He might even be pitching poorly enough to have his name included in Sabathia trade talks...

It may be tough to swallow, but sooner or later we need to sell high on a guy. Marmol has a lot of value, even after a couple of bad outings. But, he's also shown that he's mortal lately. If giving up Marmol is the key to getting Sabathia, I'm in.

Big win. Wood was throwing smoke. 97, 97, 98, 94, then drop in an 84 mph hook. Filthy.

Nasty, Nasty pitch to end the game by Wood.

Big hit by Fontenot. Nice win

If it was Marmol, Cedeno and Gallagher for Sabbathia, would you pull the trigger? Its a lot to give up. But It gives you a real strong 3, to pitch in the playoffs. You just have to trust Howry in the set-up role. Plus, you have to figure out, who can play short, should Theriot get injured.

I am not interested in giving up Marmol for a big time rent a pitcher. The only way I would give him up was if I was certain I was going to resign C.C. and I was going to have him for longer than half a year. Otherwise, count me out and I would go for Burnett or Meche or someone on that level to help as a SP.

If I'm convinced that Marmol is just going through some mechanical issues, I would agree with you. If there's any indication that he's breaking down, sell high. That's the rub though, isn't it?

marmol has great stuff, no doubt. his recent downfall was mentioned by brenly last night - his love of his slider. when you only have 2 pitches like he does, you need to be able to spot that fastball and then drop the slider as your hammer pitch. he is throwing more sliders than fastballs, and they are sitting there waiting for it, and good hitters are learning to spot that slider coming and lay off. granted, he made the first couple guys look foolish swinging at them, but i think he needs to be a bit more discriminating about using the slider so much. the threat of the slider is a valuable asset when you throw 95+ fastballs.

that being said, i wouldnt get rid of marmol - no way. not for a short term rent-a-player. there is no guarantee sabathia would sign long-term with the cubs, and marmol has a bright future.

I don't disagree with keeping Marmol, neccesarily...however, due to his current mechanics, his arm will fall off sooner or later.

Tough game tonight against Lincecum, and most likely bad shadows.

Fukudome really looks bad at the plate right now. Glad to see Ramirez continue where he left off. Great throw by the Fire and Passion, damn near threw it in the dugout.

Nothin like giving up a rbi single to the pitcher. Gallagher looks like shit once again.

Now a missed pop up by Soto, 4-1, this game is probably over.

Both teams seem a bit lethargic, as does the crowd. Splitting on the road is normally fairly acceptable. But this is a pretty bad Giants team, that the Cubs really should take 3 of 4 from. Maybe they are already looking ahead to the StLouis series? They just seem to be going through the motions tonight. But then again Lincecum might have a lot to do with that.

Ramirez looks like shit at the plate, and made no effort for that pop up. The umpire is giving Lincecum a big outside corner on the breaking ball.

Once again Lee chokes in the clutch. Be nice if he came up with a big hit once this year.
