Just think, Cubs fans have at least two more months of this roller coaster ride.

It's almost getting to the point where if Fukudome doesn't start hitting, his only option to save face will have to be seppuku.

But how will filling out squares with the numbers 1-9 help him hit?

I would rather have the Cubs go through this valley in the batting now rather than in September/October. They just need to stay close and the hitting will come back around. All it takes is another good stretch of 9 out of 10 like the Brewers just did to us and they are up by a handful of games. Not time to panic yet, but its got to feel stuffy up there at the top.

Wrong! The Cubs players, coaches, management, and all of the fans worldwide should definitely be on the highest level of panic! There are too many signs to ignore! Too many problems that are out of control! There is big trouble afoot, BIG trouble, and to ignore it would be foolish! Things have not yet hit rock bottom, but the day of reckoning is coming for this team! Take heed all Cubs fans, the hour of the Cubs demise is at hand!

Panic! Panic! Panic!

That he did, but I find it hard to believe he would be keeping this quiet if the Cubs were still winning 5 and 6 games a week.

Regardless, I'm glad he's staying away.

Its time for Marquis to go. A walk, hit batter, and then the homer. Way to step up for the team.

It happens everytime with him. Whenever they tie the game, or take the lead, he comes out the next inning and gives it back. He is a mental midget also. He really needs to be traded, released, or sent to the 'pen. He sucks in the 2nd half every year, and his 2 starts so far this year has been the same.

But remember, he got all pissy when the pen was mentioned as a possibility at the beginning of the season. He might sulk and take his toys and go home... heyyyy.

Oh, Oh, Fontenot!

Just one little complaint. Why do the Cubs save all their scoring for one game? This organization has a long history of this. I wish they could "spread it out" a little more, and they wouldn't lose close games like the 3-2 game.

Nice win to get back in first.

Ya gotta admit the kid looked good today in his 2 innings, 3 Ks, no runs and his first save. He very well may be around for awhile in that bullpen. He looks like he could be a better late inning option right now than Howry.

Great catch to end the game by Edmonds. He continues to be a big part of this team.

What a great day! This team is now poised for a great run at the division, the National League, and the World Series titles. And it all began with this masterful victory today. The hitters are all coming around at the right time, the bullpen clearly has been upgraded by the addition of Samardzija, and you can just feel the momentum shifting the Cubs way.

On top of all that, the Brewers and the Cards lost, opening up some daylight between the top 3 teams in the division. I don't know about the rest of you, but my enthusiasm for this squad is at an all-time high right now.

Clearly this team is ready to go on an amazing run, you can just feel it. This season has been such a delight to this point, and it is only going to get better. The Brewers had best be ready, because the Cubs are rolling into town on a huge high, and should have little problem ending this division race by Thursday.

to all of you negative thinkers out there:

Relax. Relax. Relax.

It was nice to see that Marquis sinker ball working

I was pleasantly surprised by Samardzija having never seen him pitch before this weekend. Got a nice live arm.

anyone (besides me) want to predict that after Lou's ejection on Sat. and Sunday's win, that the Cubs are off to a big win streak?

It's a shame that Lou will have to manage in the Brewers series -- unlike last year.
