Time for another Cub offensive explosion.

Wind blowing out, Wellemeyer already has given up a couple of homeruns and a shaky Cardinal bullpen. I expect the Cubs to make this game interesting.

Karos strikes me as a guy that doesn't even follow baseball. I don't think he has a full-time local TV job with a team. He probably rolls into each city on Friday; does the Fox game on Saturday. The rest of his week is probably spent banging bitches and spending his millions.

Karros has been wrong on lots of pitches today. Saying high fastballs, when they have been knee high. He really is a dope, and needs to stay in studio, or be fired.

Eric Karos just said that Soriano is the best lead-off-hitter since Ricky Henderson. He said Soriano is an MVP candidate. What a "baseball idiot."

And these players are suppose to be experts and insightful? Please. Most of us here are smarter than Karos if he believes what he just said.

So much for the sweep. Need Dempster to come up big tommorow.

Is it me, or is Aramis' feet moving too much when he swings the bat? Doesn't seem like he has a good base right now when he takes a hack. It's hard to hit home runs with just your arms.

I don't know, i don't have tapes of Ramirez earlier in the year and maybe he has always done this but right now he really seems to be scuffling lately.

Ward's been basically useless the past few months.

I'm amazed at how young LaRussa looks. He's the same age as Pinella - 64. Man, look at the difference. I'm sure Tony dies his hair but still, 30 years as an MLB manager, all of that travel, all of that booze, all of the late nights, you'd think he'd be a little weathered. Not the case.

More amazing is LaRussa is the same age and Leyland. Now that's a big difference.

Well I am sure Frank had fun on the rooftop today, if you get real quiet you can almost hear him yelling CUBS SUCK!

RFDC, why should you care about Frank's thoughts on Saturday afternoon?

Muy expensivo, but a great time was had by all-- except the couple of die hard Cub fans in our group. I could not believe how many Cardinal fans were in Wrigleyville yesterday. Is it always like that? That crowd had to be at least 1/3 Red which I think is pretty big for a team that draws at least 38, 39K per game.

If any of youse are looking into a rooftop event, I would highly recommend the one we were all at yesterday. Tons of food, bottles of sunscreen, lots of TVs, air conditioned bar and plenty of open air shelter if the weather happened to turn. The service was great as well and very easy on the eyes. Girls walking around with trays of food all game-- pizza, beef sandwhiches, bbq chicken, burgers, and even desert. I think the longest I waited for a beer was about 10 or 12 pitches too.

Because he mentioned on the board he was going to the game, is that OK with you?

Sounds like a great time, I have never done the rooftop thing, but hope to sometime.

I don't know if it drops down price wise on a weekday, or with a different opponent, but it was $200 a man for us. Granted, we covered the groom's cost, but thats still probably 170 or 180 a piece.

Brewers won today in extras. Tied the game late. That's 5 in a row for them. If the Cubs lose tonite the lead is down to 3.

Doesn't matter. Brewers and Cubs are both making the playoffs. It's just a matter of who it the Wild Card.

Was at that same rooftop earlier this year. I second Frank's thoughts on it. Oh and the deserts have some pretty good ice cream too ;-)

Do we really have to tolerate Joe Morgan again tonight

Either him or Santo. Even though he can barely make a coherant sentence, I'd take Santo.

Haha, why the hell would the Cubs jump on the first pitch against a guy limited to 80 pitches for the night? he's at like 52 through 5. He'll notch a complete game at this point, eight innings of one-run ball at the least.

The strategy worked I guess since Carpenter left hurt.

Bad base running cost the Cubs at least 1 run, if not more.

True, but they were aggressive errors, I will take those.

Two outs made at third base. It could have been a HUGE inning.

Nice to see wood and marmol come in and shut them down for the last 6 outs.

I like how he is now throwing his fastball with some command. He is working off of it, instead of staying away from it.
He's not throwing nearly as many sliders as he did during the rough stretch he went through.
Very nice win indeed.

I just found it hard to believe that you generally cared about Frank. Remember, you are the same poster that used  moments after Contreras went down with an injury.

They're only 4 behind the Brewers for the Wild Card. 1 red hot week from them and/or 1 ice cold week from the Cubs and they are right back near the top. Same is true with the Sox and Tigers. Unlikely, but neither of these teams are "out of it" yet. If they're still 6, 7, 8 games back on September 1st, different story.
