Why do the Cubs throw Lee anything to hit? With Blum on deck? You would think sooner or later the Cubs would just say fuck it, were not going to let this guy beat us.

Never. The Cubs organization is utterly incorrigible on this point. They refuse to learn the lesson. 26 homeruns, 27 homeruns, 80 homeruns, they'll just keep pitching to Lee and getting beat by him until he finally retires.

I am sure we would have a much better shot this year with Lofton and Houfpair in the OF.

sorry, I am repeating myself...no more comments on those two...

I know it's gonna cost some money to dump Marquis but it might save some games at this point to frickin dump him. He's not going to improve between now and Spring Training.

Thank you Mark DeRosa. That day off the other day did the body good. Luckily the Cubs have Gaudin (sp?) and Smarzdja (sp?) rested for today. Get Marquis out of there.

Good god, how the Cubs are bashing Backe's skull in.

Great call by Quade on not sending Soto, you gotta give Soriano a shot, and let him jack one just like he did!!!!!!!!!

Did you see Backe's reaction when Soriano hit it...man thats gotta feel awful

Ok, Marquis has a little breathing room, but another run or two and you have to get him out of there. Let him qualify for the win and then go to the bullpen. You have the day off tomorrow so you don't need to worry about overuse. Let's hope the offense keeps their foot on the pedal for the rest of the game.

I think its time to pull the plug on Marquis for today. Let's not give houston any momentum.

This is a really stupid game. Only Jason Marquis could squander the Cubs' offensive production today.

The way the Cubs have been hitting Carlos Lee can hit a homer every time he's up and the Cubs will still win.

what's sadder? Cubs leaving Marquis in or Astros leaving Backe in the game?

Good thing too, because that's essentially what he does vs the Cubs.

The Astro bullpen must be shot since Backe is still pitching.

Why do umpires anymore make asses of themselves by taking their masks off and yelling at the pitcher, dugout, etc? Don't they get that they are the authority figure out there, if you dont like what they are saying, warm em and toss em. Enough said. Why make a fool of yourself?

Another series win! Now 23 games over .500 thats pretty impressive. The Cardinals series is going to be another exciting series. If they can put even more distance between themselves and the Cardinals, that would be great.

I don't see how Hendry couldn't get the balls to land Favre on the North side.

I got to say I've watched that Soriano 3 run shot a more than a few times just to watch Backe's reaction. It's priceless.

Cecil Cooper left that guy in waaaay too long. Between the Cubs hitting everything he was tossing up there, and the ump not giving him anything off the plate, Backe way fit to be tied. It was pretty funny. He sure didn't keep his emotions in check there. Some guys-like Howry, can give up a 3 run homer and you see no reaction. Not the case there...
