Dexter Fowler may be the league MVP and Ross' impact this year in the order as been massive.

Arrieta had one of the most historic seasons in the history of the game and has improved upon those numbers this year. Lester is having his single greatest season. Hammel is the best #3 in baseball. Rondon hasn't given up a run.

Lester might be the leader for the Gold Glove, and the Cubs have the best left side of an infield in baseball. Best 1B in baseball. And Heyward in RF.

I wish I had the strength (but not the weight) of JDC to help fight the proliferation of trolling around this place.

IMU, why are you spewing this garbage?

His defense prowess prevented any runs being scored in the 7th inning. Had he made a mistake there...could have been a big inning. Great decision making.

True. If you know you're throw to first is a disaster it is great decision making to not even attempt it. Can't have a guy that pathetic winning gold gloves though.

Checking all the boxes in April or May is one thing. But checking them all in October is what counts. Injuries and guys (like Hammel the past 2 seasons) slipping later in the season are things we have to watch out for. But right now, things are looking pretty good.

It took fans of the '85 Bears at least 1/3 of the season to start getting really excited. Bear fans weren't this obnoxious until weeks 11-12.

Did that team ever sweep a 3-game series against their division rival on the road to go 20-6??! I didn't think so!

Better. They swept the division, pounded the hell out of the defending champion on the road and then in a three week stretch almost killed three opposing quarterbacks in route to three blowout wins (two by massive shutouts).

And then the rest of the story...

The Cubs face very, very few quality opponents all season. Tomorrow they run into one of them, if they do well I'll be willing to give them some credit.

You may be correct on that, but they did sweep the Pirates, and they did what good teams do if they face the few quality opponents so far......they have 20 wins and took care of business.....the sign of a somewhat pretty good team.....

None of that means anything. The Cubs have played nothing but dogshit all year, Pirates and Angels both suck. I am embarrassed the Sox split that series with the Halos, but hey the Cubs split with one of the worst rosters ever assembled in ML history so I guess shit happens. Baseball.

You forgot the best baserunning.

They aren't a base stealing team. But I can't remember a Cubs team going 1st to 3rd, 2nd to home, scoring on safety squeezes, etc. like this edition has.

They've been excellent at putting pressure on opposing defenses.

1. Find oven.
2. Turn on oven.
3. Insert your head and inhale deeply.

They are just playing what was scheduled for them and winning......I don't understand what the issue is with that.....you could break down the early schedule with any team in the MLB and see how they faired with what was presented to them.....

You're an idiot. The Angels are not awful. They are not a great team, but they are not awful. The Cardinals and Pirates are both good teams. You just come off as jealous making posts like that.

Do not bother giving credit to the Mighty Cubs. They will be just fine without your idiotic blessing. Worry about the south side and you will have lots to talk about sport.
