No one cares about batting average anymore.

He has struggled in the last week or two. He had very healthy numbers until then. He will recover.

Seems like hitting that walk off fucked him up and got him away from what he was doing.

Ive never been a fan of the guy, his glove is average @ best and his bat is below average.. That draft was LOADED, look at the guys who went in the first round that year.. I heard that meathead Murph yesterday in the car talking about how great Hendry really was and how Baez is well on his way to stardom..SMH

Think he swung yesterday at first pitches on at least 2 of his AB's, with the patented ALL OUT Baez fan o rama, even though he hit fly balls on both. I understand what they want him to do, easy swings, singles and the HR's will come, have a feeling he hasnt bought into that theory yet.

I didn't see last nights game but that's my biggest beef with him, he corkscrews himself into the ground on nearly every pitch..its like he's getting paid by the HR ..he's a bum, he's not a smart baseball player and has average skills.

I get it you don't like the guy but saying his glove is average at best is simply not true. Anyone who has watched him play this year would disagree with your assessment. The value of his defense has already been felt this season on more than one occasion.

312, who is normally my guy, is having a bad thread. Even with mental lapses, Baez is an All-Star level defender. Way more natural ability than Russell, though Russell is more consistent.

His problem may always be hitting, which is too bad because he has an amazingly quick bat. He has as much talent as anyone, but as we know, if it doesn't translate, it's meaningless.

If he ever figures it out at the plate then you might have something special.

And I don't even think he's had a full year in the bigs yet, cumulatively speaking.

Yeah, that's why not trading him to this point means nothing. He'll have suitors who are drooling for a few more years. Even if he has no improvement, there will be teams lined up thinking they can fix him. And, if they were right, it'd be worth it. Unbelievable talent.

You can see the flashes of brilliance every now and then. And I'm not saying that means guaranteed success (before anyone runs with that meme) but that's why, like you said, he'll be getting chances to fail for years to come. Hell, how long did Uggla hang around because people were hoping there was one last power surge left in him?

Call up Manny to straighten him out.

Every time I see or hear something about Baez, I think of Bernstein reading the scouting report about him a year or so ago. Don't remember the exact words used, but I do remember Danny saying potentially best player in baseball.

You guys are nuts, Russell is the best infield glove I've seen in a cubs uniform, Baez is average @ best, Bryant is a better glove @ 3rd than Baez... I don't care if he made one or two slick plays, the consistency ain't there.

or after...

12. Brewers Taylor Jungmann

15. Brewers Jed Bradley
16. Dodgers Chris Reed
17. Angels C.J. Cron
19. Red Sox Matt Barnes
20. Rockies Tyler Anderson

that's 12 of the first 21 not counting Baez

One of the dumbest posts you have ever made. Baez has exceptional skills. His only issue is trying to do too much. He see's the team struggling a bit lately to score runs and he's taking it on himself to try to do more, rather than sticking with what was working so well early in the season. He will work his way out of it and make you look really stupid....again.

I'd love to be wrong about him, I don't see it happening. Just because he's made a couple real nice plays defensively doesn't mean he's a great fielder..I saw Saladino make an all time great play @ short last week too.

You think its pretty common to have two front end starters like Gray and Fernandez in the same draft?
