With the last (calendar) year that Arrieta has had, it's amazing Kershaw is still that far ahead of him.

Kershaw's second half of 2015 was really good, as well. Not quite Arrieta, but close.

And Kershaw has been better in 2016.

1A and 1B right now, for sure.

Let's hope he continues this in the playoffs but can't deny he's been damn good this year.

I disagree, here's why.

I start Arietta b/c why not.

Game 2 it's Hendricks.

Game 3 is Lester ... that's because there are three possibilities:
- You're up 2-0 so now the other team 'knows' they're done
- You're knotted-up 1-1 and you've got as good a pitcher out there as you need
- You're down 0-2 and you need Lester (not to mention his personal valet Ross) out there to be level-headed

As an added 'bonus', if it's a 4/7 and you're down 0-3, you still have Dr. Teeth to go take the mound, and clearly he just doesn't give a fuck about the pressure.

Sure, it means he can't pitch three times in a series (barring some bizarre game 7 situation), but I think we're okay with what other options are available.

Who knows.

Hendricks numbers at home are outstanding. Have to think about making sure he starts at Wrigley if possible.

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but what he does in the playoffs is all I care about.

He does 'work' in the playoffs.

I'm more worried about Bryant striking out on 3 pitches in a big situation than I am with Lester.

Yeah Scwarber was the only one that showed up.

Yeah Scwarber was the only one that showed up.

Soler too. Don't mention Schwarber around IMU though wants to run him out of town on a rail.

He's not usually wrong when it comes to baseball but he's wrong about Scwarber.

They were both home runs though, and he had 2 walks, leading to a respectable OPS.

But in September he was a .740 OPS player. His OPS dropped each month he was up last year.

Chris Shelton also had a very good start to his rookie season.

Yikes! JORR or Good Dolphin would post something like this but I never thought YOU could disrespect Babe like this. Scwarber is going to be a stud.

You need to be realistic in your expectations. He may not be Chris Shelton. That doesn't mean he is Babe Schwarber.

When a power/hit tool is the only thing you possess, it needs to not only project as a 70 or 80...it needs to become a 70 or 80. And there is no way anyone can be confident that Schwarber will end up as a top tier hitter, much less an everyday starter in an NL lineup.

Add on 2 wins for 19-4 with a sub 2.50 ERA and he'd have to be in the top 2 with Scherzer.

I don't wanna see Maddon put a personal award like the CY ahead of the ultimate team goal (WS) like last year..I hope Lester gets rocked next start and gets a loss so he rests up for the real prize.

19-4 with a 2.28 ERA. Pretty damn impressive. Let's hope it continues in the post season.

Rest In Peace, José ‏@MLBRandomStats 2h2 hours ago

Jon Lester has now gone 8 games in a row with 6 IP allowing a run or fewer.
Since 1913, only Bob Gibson in 1968 had a longer such streak.

Yeah.

Arrieta finished the season with 9 straight GS with 0 or 1 ER and minmum 6 IP.

Imagine the top 3 if Arrieta was pitching like he did last year.
