I remember back in the early 90s when the W Sox had a pretty exciting team that the tension between the Cubs and Sox fans were at it's highest in my lifetime. I remember as a cubs fan BEING SO JEALOUS of those early 90s WSox teams. Big Frank, Ventura, The 20 year old something catcher that looked like he was 47, etc......

I could remember getting into almost fist fights over these baseball clubs. It was like the Cubs were the bloods and the Sox were the crips. Looking back now how stupid LOL, but man it was freaking intense. This continued throughout the 90s and into the 2000s and I dont know how it is today since i no longer live in the city.

Question to Cubs/Sox fans -

1.When do you think the rivalry between fans was at it's height?
2.How is it today?
3.Back in the 50s/60s/70s - was the rivalry heated? The Sox owned the town in the 50s, then the Cubs in the 60s, then the Sox in the 70s, and the Cubs since 84 really.

btw how do i post in 2 forum Boards? I'd like to get Sox fans to comment too!

For sure in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid.

Today it's at a low point. Sox are bad and Cubs are not.

You can just create a thread in the Cubs section next time. Don't worry - Sox fans will see it even before Cub fans.

It's gonna be nice to have baseball back, isn't it? Nothin' to talk about besides these dumb politicians.

yes. I haven't been excited for a baseball season in a long long time as I am about this year. Of course we know why. I don't really care how the Cubs finish. I think this season is more of a celebration of last year and that we finally got what we waited for our whole lives.

As I type this I have THE NATURAL movie on the tv. Haven't watched it in 25/30 years. Going to start Ken Burns Baseball series tomorrow. Shit that thing is over 20 years old now but still soooooo gooood.

I don't know. All these answers are definitely wrong though. It would have to be sometime before I was born. Ever since I've been watching baseball one team has clearly been superior to the other team or both teams were so trash it didn't matter. I guess 2008 might be an exception but neither team was particularly good that year either.

I remember back in the day we were like gangs. LIke a bunch of cub fans vs a bunch of sox fans. We played baseball against each other and played it like it was life and death. Then we'd argue and fight about each others players, fans, history, mothers etc....

Was it always like that?

I was just thinking, you never hear anything about the Cubs on the Score.

I don't considered it a rivalry at all, just an inferiority complex that White Sox fans have.

When the White Sox are a better team than the Cubs, White Sox fans like to bask in the fact how good the Sox are and how bad the Cubs are.

When the Cubs are the better team, White Sox fans look for holes to poke in terms of "how good said Cubs team is".

and when the Cubs are better, like a lot better, they still cant win the BP Cup.

It hasn't peaked IMO, in 3 years Reinsdorph will be DEAD! The team will have a new majority owner and young talent blossoming. The Cubs will have won 2 rings in in the last 5 years and been a juggernaut the last 5...then things get interesting.

There is no rivalry to peak in the future.

It's adorable that you think the guys who haven't developed a single minor leaguer outside of Sale for the past 15 years will have young talent blossoming in three years. They're basing their hopes on a guy who has already proven he can't hit in the major leagues.

Interesting... Like comparing horse flies with the actual horse. Nothing interesting. White Sox best bet as a franchise is to leave this city. No serious free agent will ever sign with the team that will be perpetually ignored.
