I'll cut you a deal, I'll admit that, if you admit your sole and only purpose on this site is to be the board contrarian and THEN we can move on.

What? There are a ton of things I agree with most people on. One being that called people libtards is a good way to make sure people don't take your thoughts seriously.

Can we agree that this sentence is written by someone who is either drunk or new to the English language?

You're missing the point as well. The White Sox were not (John) germane to the conversation. The discussion was about Heyward, free agents, etc. A Cubs fan in this thread brought White Sox into it. Much like Democrats, its high time for you clowns to point the thumb rather than the finger.

Schwarber's hit to lead off the inning after the delay, had a lot more to do with them winning than anything Heyward said and I doubt Schwarber needed Heyward to say anything to spur him on. The signing of Heyward was stupid. Not only is it a colossal waste of money, but it blocks a guy like Haap or Jimenez from coming up and taking a spot they might otherwise ascend to. Pay half his salary to any team that will take him for a case of Baseballs.

When they're trading away the "next wave of talent" because you're stuck with this stiff you'll see. But hey, maybe he can give a few more Bill Clinton priced speeches! And the fantasy that the Cubs can trade him with half his salary, good luck with that! You better start hoping he hits.

Props to Heyward.

He's up to .156 BA .250 OBP .563 OPS

But he's 7.8 Wins Above Replacement Motivational Speaker.

Half? Maybe he will opt out?

You live in an alternate reality.

I don't know if he's out of options, but I would consider sending him to AAA. Why waste a roster spot on this steaming pile of crap? Haap, Szczur, or Zobrist take over that spot, with Baez at 2B. Maybe he opts out of his deal if the club makes him miserable enough. Send him to AAA to play CF everyday and justify the move by saying they want him to adjust to the position in case Almora doesn't work out. Just get his ass out of town.

That's another unrealistic idea. Have you ever seen a guy making $20 million a year sent to AAA? It's just not done. And if you did it, it makes the guy who signed him look like a real fucking moron.

No, it make the move look stupid. It was a stupid move to sign him. Continuing to ignore his incompetence offensively is stupid too. It just compounds the issue. Time to own it and act to correct the problem. The Cardinals wanted him and offered even more than the Cubs. Maybe paying less than half what they offered originally, might be enough of a bargain for them to take him. Their hitting coach might have better luck getting him performing like he did when he was on their team. Sure, the power numbers were bad, but he hit .294 and had a great OBP. I don't even care if he might do well somewhere else, I just think it's in his head now. I can't see him being good for the Cubs.

Enough of these stupid ideas. A man of your front office expertise should know that you can't send a veteran down to the minors. It would require them to cut him and pay his bad contract.

Offensive black hole aside, he is still probably the best right fielder in the game. And in case you hadnt noticed the Cubs outfield was centered around his defense. The Cubs are able to have lackey as a competent starter because of this defense.

Having two ++ defenders in the outfield allows them to carry a dh in left field while still having a good overall defense. A defense of schwarber Almora and Jimenez probably adds an earned run to each starter.

And stop bringing up Span. Your plan for a world series contending team to sign him coming off an injury to a 1 year contract (with a team option for year 2) when he signed for 3/31 with easy incentives to make it 3/36.
