And it may be splitting hairs, but I was not about to give the benefit of the doubt for "best defensive RF" when 10 words prior somebody was truthfully trying to pin Baez as an all time great defender.

I was the one who said "Baez is one of the best defensive infielders you've ever seen." I started watching MLB in 1984 and in that time, Baez is right up there as infield glove with anyone else in that time frame.

Are you saying that's an absurd statement?

Does sound a bit hyperbolic.

wow... some rough takes for the "subdivision"

Baez is their best SS, 2B and 3B. He should not be traded. He's a good hitter that is only getting better and a terrific base runner too. Bad idea Jimmy.

Trading Russell for a starting pitcher would make more sense. Otherwise, switching Russell back to 2B makes sense, as Baez has the far superior arm .

Omar Vizquel and Ozzie Smith were both considered average to below average shortstop arms. Russell is a better defender than Baez.

Russell has the more dependable glove. Baez has the far superior arm. With Russell having already taking stints on the DL with shoulder problems, it seems prudent to me that he be moved back to 2B and let him win gold gloves there, if they don't trade him.

Id put Russell at SS and let Baez play 2b or 3b or wherever the numbers indicate balls might be hit.

If it aint broke...

Exactly. So Baez should be at short.

The last two years have shown Baez is the better defender. And Russell's weakness is the arm. So back to 2B he goes, and he can platoon.

Eye test? Numbers seem to say Russell is better at SS, don't they?

With a full season of playing at SS (or at least consistently starting there), I'm taking Baez. When he was playing short sparingly earlier in the season, the results weren't good. I think Sox fans were even commenting on how Baez now sucks defensively.

Since the Russell injury, he has been amazing at short. I haven't looked at his fielding numbers over the last couple of weeks, but I'm sure they are good. I know overall, they are not.

The stop he turned into a DP.....spectacular. He is the team's best defender and SS is the most crucial position on the field. He belongs there full time.
