Revisionist history. The Cubs single best player in the organization was Kris Bryant. He was sent to the minor leagues. Happ clearly seems to be MLB ready, but blocked. This tends to happen from time to time.

Indignation falls in Fake News. Short of a win at all costs JimmyPasta, I would say MANY agreed with the decision to hold him for an extra year. I don't recall there being a strong group that actually believed he needed more seasoning.

Bryant was "blocked" by the great Mike Olt. If not for that one inside fastball that broke his hand, Olt may still be at third while Bryant gets more reps in the minors. Ironically, the broken hand happened on the exact day (close to it) where the Cubs gained an extra year of control over Bryant.

OF COURSE I'm kidding....but I don't care what anyone says....the Cubs did the exact right thing. Bryant doesn't seem to be holding a grudge (ROY, MVP). I think having him in the fold for an extra year is pretty damn smart. I know Bryant and his agent filed a grievance, and I get that....but that is more to support the players association and a part of the COLLECTIVE bargaining agreement they NOW don't like.

Frank is an idiot. Heyward is the best/top 2/3 defensive right fielder in the game. There are many metrics that show this, and the eye test can only concur.

I am only going off of what was said. That Baez is "one of the best infielders we have ever seen" which is not true at this point. The original quote was not "best OF glove" or "best defensive right fielder." The quote was "best right fielder in baseball." That means offense and defense, which makes my statement true and you looking like the idiot.

The trade which I think they would have made for Baez is if they could have pried Jose Fernandez from the Marlins. The Marlins could have rebuilt around Baez, would have gotten another couple of pieces as well, and the Cubs would have had Fernandez until he hit free agency and a place to slot Happ in at midseason this year.

Then Fernandez had to go and get himself killed, and created this logjam at 2B. Asshole.

I was the one who said "Baez is one of the best defensive infielders you've ever seen." I started watching MLB in 1984 and in that time, Baez is right up there as infield glove with anyone else in that time frame.
