Isn't Mike Trout the best player of his generation?

I don't even think Schwarber is the best player on his team, which would be Bryant. Awesome power, but no butcher can be a generational player.

His absolute ceiling is probably David Ortiz. Is Ortiz a generational talent?

Of course now we insert Ortiz in the HOF. Kyle Ruth. Kyle Di Maggio. Kyle Farnsworth.

What is it about Cub fans? It is so weird and illogical. It's not enough to have a World Series winning team with all the potential in the world. Potential to win more. Nope not good enough they have to latch onto some Babe guy as their potential super man. All the while disrespecting their other real stars.

Was Griffey the best player of his generation even with the sad Cincinnati years?

Yeah, it came down to "amazing baseball player who became an injured shell" versus "amazing baseball player who became a juiced-up fraud." I still leaned toward Griffey.

After them I'd go A-Rod, Pujols, Trout. Am I leaving anyone out between them?

Wow. That is an awfully lofty comparison. I can see Schwarber having some big seasons if he stays healthy, but Cabrera is one of the top hitters of the past decade. Perhaps THE top hitter. I would be happy with Carlos Lee numbers. I hope you are right (God knows that's due to happen) about this, but I suspect you have reached a bit too far.

Bonds cheated so I would say no. Griffey never took care of himself but put up big numbers.

Bonds is the best player I've ever seen and he has to be top 3 all-time.

Period. He showed what happens when a great player does what good players were doing. I don't know if Griffey used but his injuries make him a suspect. Watching Barry at the end had to be what it was like watching Ruth.
