So I am planning a trip to Wrigley this summer and went on the cubs website to see if I can buy some tickets.

Cheapest tickets were upper deck for $37!!!!!

You got to be shitting me right? I probably have not gone to a game at Wrigley in 10 years but what the hell happened. I use to be able to walk up to the ticket booth on the day of the game and the cheapest ticket would be like $7.

Yes I know they won the WS but this is ridiculous.

Are there any other options to get cheaper tickets for cubs games other than going thru the cubs / mlb website?

PROTIP: never go to yankee stadium.... ever!

seriously, their upper deck @ yankee stadium has like.... uhhh, either 2 or four tiers to it. i know that upper deck between 1st and 3rd = costs more than beyond 1st or beyond 3rd, and then i think from there they split the upper deck into 2 levels going fowards/backwards, akin to how wrigley field has "upper deck box" seats [the ones where you step down fom the upper deck walkway/concourse/whatever] and then regular ol "upper deck" where you go up from that walkway.... and you pray that you dont get a pole blocking your view of the game..... SERIOUSLY MACIEJ FUCK OFF WITH YOUR WHOLE "YOU MAKE A BETTER DOOR THAN A WINDOW GAME!!!!" =P

ALSO, when you go to wrigley don't forget to stop by fan services [lower level / main concourse pretty much right behind home plate but off a little bit down towards the 3rd base / waveland side] and sign up for the designated driver program. they'll give you a voucher for a free soda.... which used to the the pimpin $7-8/+ souvenir cups, but now is just a "medium" clear plastic cup..... HOWEVER, in my experience if you offer to pay the ~$2-3 difference between the "medium" plastic cup and the "souvenir cup" they'll just toss you a souvenir cup anyways...... just make sure to offer to pay that difference, mmmmk? =D

Watch them in San Diego. We are going there Memorial Day, lower box seats even with the on deck circle for under $60.

$37 is not expensive.

I'm sorry you're poor.

You live in Hawaii where a gallon of milk costs $12. Cry more.

I went to a couple of games last year and $37 was a steal.

Jump on these while you can, Hawaii.

Last time I saw the Cubs it was in SF about 2 years ago and I got in for $9! This was when the Giants were coming off a WS championship year too.

Ok so I'm f'd. At least in April/May if I pay $37 I'm sure I'll be able to go down to the lower deck since the kids will still be at school. Summertime forget it.

did they go back to Vienna beef hotdogs there? I remember last time I was there they had hebrew national. All hotdogs that are not vienna beef suck. I don't drink in the daytime so I won't be drinking any beer.

Beer, pop, hot dog. It's all expensive. The ticket is usually my least feared item when I go. Although if I'm dragging the kids it gets up there quick. Sox games might be the only cheap ticket in town and I'm not sure how cheap those get. Hawks sticker price in SRO is a good sized chunk of change more than 37 bucks.

Wrigley food sucks. Walk over to Byron and get yourself a Polish and a dog.

When I first read this I was like WTF is the Rate. Then googled it and it's the name of Sox Park now. Wow. Did they even keep the name Comiskey? Not like they should.

It was called Comiskey Park for twelve years. Jeez, you are dense.

Why anyone would jump on tickets in the upper deck......worse yet, upper deck not near the front of the upper deck, is beyond me. If your seats are shitty, it's not even worth going. Pay more and get a decent seat. Just drink less and eat before going to the game.

Elmhurst Steve has great plans for 20,000 attendance at all Cubs games.

Have fun trying to resign any core Cubs players with that revised revenue.

I guess it's okay for some people, but I sure wouldn't want to sit there. But the cruise ships have steerage areas and that is good enough for some too.

Upper Deck Box seats are some of my favorite at Wrigley. Most of the reserved seats are poor quality with lots of obstructed view.

Every seat in the house brings with it the atmosphere of being at the game. I've done standing room a few times before and it is acceptable. I don't prefer it...but if I'm spending $37... just get me in the ballpark and I'll have a smile on my face.

If I'm going there and paying the inflated prices, I'm going to want to actually, you know, see the game.

I'm of the belief that if I'm going to take the time to get to a game I'll pay for good seats. It takes me 2-3 hours to get in and 3 to get back. I get into disagreements with friends because some want to go, get in as cheap as possible and then knock back three beers, two dogs whatever. If I'm taking the time I'm paying for good seats. I can get drunk on my couch and grill steaks. Part of it was I was spoiled as a young kid as the company my Dad worked for had great tickets to all venues (except Soldier) so most games I saw were with good seats. Part of it's the investment in time. Obviously if I'm bringing the whole family we go cheaper but for the most part my kids don't want to sit for three hours watching a game so we don't go often.

Outside of a few seats at Wrigley Field, you can see the game from anywhere?

Honestly, if I'm going to Wrigley, I'm usually getting tickets from someone...the worst seats there are in the upper parts of the upper deck...sat there on work outings and couldn't see shit.

Won't sit in the upper deck at the G-spot, either.

To be fair, I don't see the point in going there just to be there.

But that begs the question, "What are good seats?" When people come from other places to see a game at Beautiful Wrigley Field®, they generally aren't coming to sit in Section 118. The "Wrigley Experience" by definition is in the bleachers.

Upper Deck Box are great seats if they are between the bases. But I've gotten queasier about heighis as I age, so I try to get seats in 204 where I can go a dozen rows back and still have a good view.

When they sucked, it was easy pickings on weeknights in the Terrace Boxes (so in front of the poles) if you didn't mind being in row 5 or 6.

As somebody who usually goes solo, I rarely sit in the bleachers. I hate having to find a new seat every time either I have to take a pissed or a bunch of frat boy Chads take over the section I am in.
